Arrival Story:
A puppy ran to my mother's husband one day while he was in the yard. After checking around the neighborhood for an owner, it was discovered that an irresponsible person dumped 5 puppies and drove away. Four ran to the neighbor's house and one ran to my mother's house. My mother called me after they took him to the vet for his initial puppy visit. The vet estimated that he was 6 week old. I found out that the neighbor had his littermates picked up by the police and they were taken to the pound. I tried to adopt them. I called the local rescue to see if they could help. The shelter said they had to stay 5 days in quarantine prior to being placed in the adoption area. The 4th day, parvo struck the puppies in quarantine and all the puppies in the shelter were killed. Tank is the lone survivor. I helped to bring attention to the dogs at the local shelter for adoption by posting photos on the dog forums, fostering, transporting, etc. I already had 5 dogs of my own and 2 fosters when my mom called to let me know that there was a puppy at her house that needed me. I brought Tank home, just a baby, small and afraid. My intention was to find Tank a good home. I guess I did find him a good home, here. Tank is such a good boy, and so smart.

Bio:
Tank was very easy to crate train. Maybe he saw that the other dogs had crates and was happy to copy their behavior. He was also easy to housetrain. I probably sounded like a foolish person exclaiming how good he was every time he "went pee-pee outside"! It worked. One day Tank found a ball and brought it to me, dropped it at my feet, wagging his little tail as he sat in front of me, as if to say "There it is, throw it and I'll fetch it for you". I threw it, he brought it back, dropped it, and sat again, waiting. That was easy!! He is a very smart dog. The mean person that threw him away like garbage will never know what a smart boy he is.
