Been a While

Good Morning.

Thought I would check in since it's been a while. My mom had surgery so typing for me wasn't high n her priority list. But she has some time before she heads out to the gym so she said we could update my diary.

It's been a great summer, we've had lots of fun hanging outside chasing critters. Elwood even caught a baby bird the other day. He's a hunting dog and Mom says hunting dogs have soft mouths so the baby didn't get hurt. But boy was the mommy bird mad. She kept dive bombing Elwood! When mom told him to put it down he did and the baby was so scared that it sat frozen, so I got to sniff it. That was pretty fun.

Elwood has been going to the cabin a lot with daddy, so we've had lots of mommy and me time. We hang out on the deck, play with the sticks, and I get to ride in the convertible. Riding in the convertible is the best. We like to go on road trips to no where; just drive around for an hour or so. I like it when Elwood is gone, I get to be king of the house for a little while.

Mommy's sick

Daddy told us today that mommy has to have her gallbladder out. I'm not sure what that is but Daddy said it's no big deal. She'll have to go away for a few days to a hospital and then when she comes back she'll be as good as new. I like that idea. Plus she won't have to work for about a week after so she can hang out with me and Elwood.

I decided that I'm such a big boy now that I can choose when I want to eat and I can tell you it's not on Elwood's schedule. I've been eating my breakfast at about 10:30 instead of at 6 or 7 when mommy feeds us. I'm starting to like my dinner at around 10 pm too. Since I'm a big boy I can stay up later now so I think dinner at 10 is good. Mommy's worried that I'm sick and posted a question to the answers board to get everyone's opinion. Dad thinks I'm just want to be in charge of something since they have so many rules for me: sit, stay, heal, don't bark at the neighbor kid, etc.

Hmmm....

Mom has to go to the hospital for some tests today.

I'm really worried.

I think I'll sit in the front window and just wait for her

Back to School

Well, I had to back to that yucky school last night; but it as a whole lot of fun. I was the smartest kid in class (and the oldest). I can't believe some of these kids can't even sit when asked - pure craziness

I had a new teacher, she was really nice and gave me a lot of scratches and loves. She a lot calmer in her teaching skills so I'm more comfortable. And the other dogs in the class were not so jumpy and yippy so I had a good time.

Everyone paid attention to the teacher when was explaining what to do. There was one kid - a springerhead with big springer paws that was not paying attention. He's get bad marks if he doesn't straighten up. And there were like 2 or 3 kids that didn't even make it to class last night, playing hookie on the first night of school is not cool.

Mom bought me this cool harness thing to wear so I don't pull and choke myself. And it works realy good - I heal super now, mom says it's cause I'm so smart and not because of the harness.

We got to go outside too and work on our studies. I like to study outside with the warm sun. Mom and I always do our homework in the yard. Sometimes I get distracted mom says I have ADHD (what ever that is) and that I get distracted by shinny objects. I didn't know what she meant and then I looked at Elwood and his coat sure was shinny. So I guess Elwood is a shiny object?! I don't know sometimes mom is weird.

Today mom said I was a genius because the teacher said that dogs can't multi-task so if I'm barking she should tell me to doing something else like sit. So this morning I was barking at this working guy next door (well he parked in front of my house and I didn't tell him he could) and she came up stairs and told me to Sit. I sat, but kept on barking. Mom had a good idea it's more comfortable to bark sitting on the back of the sofa instead of standing on the window sit. But since that was my mom's idea doesn't that make her the genius? SHHH...don't tell her I said that.

What a Weekend

Holy Puppy everyone, it's been on crazy weekend and it's only Sunday Morning.

My big brother Elwood caught 3 bunnies yesterday, he was so proud of himself. He seems to forget that I helped catch them and took all of the credit himself. I don't understand what the bunnies were even doing there, everyone knows Elwood is king of the hunt - he teaches me a lot about varmit hunting. He also hunts pheasants but they are bigger than me so I have to stick to bunnies and chipmonks. I like to flush robins too, but Mom tells me that there isn't enough meat on a robin, so I'm wasting my time.

I also had to go back to that yuky school school yesterday. Mom said it was important that I go there and see that not everyone is like that teacher I had. I went in the training room and played with 2 dogs and the owners grandkids. It was a lot of fun. The owner Colleen thought I was cute and she said I was very smart. I met a new teacher too - I really like her. She understands small dogs and my fears, so I think this could work out. My new class starts on Monday; I'm kinda excited. Mom said if it's too scary when I get there we don't have to stay - Colleen agreed that would be okay.

I'm 3 years old today, so I'm a big boy now and I think I can conquer anything!

I'm going back to my nap now. Mom's has to go grocery shopping and then we're gonna mow the lawn and chop down 3 bushes. That means we'll have to go to the composite and the nice man there will give us cookies! Those cookies will go great with the frosty paws we get to have at my Birthday Party today!

What a Relief

Thanks to everyone who responded to the question my mom posted about what happened in school yesterday; she said I didn't have to go back. She said she will find me a school with nice people that will help me get over my fear of big dogs.

Now I can relax and enjoy my next adventure. Elwood, Monte and I get to meet our grandparents for the first time tonight. Mom said they live in Oregon and don't get to MN very often. She also said I needed to remember to not jump on them when they get here.

And then on Sunday I turn 3. I'll be a big boy then. We're gonna have balloons and frosty paws and go to the dog park to play. I'm most excited about the frosty paws since we never get real treats. We just get carrots and once a week we get these chewy things that help keep our teeth clean. But we can't even have those until after we brush out teeth.

I think mom needs to lighten up!

School

I had a bad day at school yesterday. I tried to bite the teacher. She's very scary. I was goofing off and not sitting when mom told me to so she ran over and jerked my leash. It reminded me of when I was attacked by all of those bigs dogs so I tried to bite her. She then did what I've seen on that t.v. show and whipped me around and put me on my side. She wouldn't let me up until I quit shaking. It seemed like forever.

I'm good boy really, but I have been "attacked" by lots of large dogs when I'm walking with my mom. The other dogs were'nt on their leashes and I was - they surprised me. I didn't mean to be bad. I was just scared there are big dogs in my class and I was trying to listen to mom and keep an eye on them at the same time.

Now I'm a little freaked out by little things that never scared me before. I'm ready for the next sneak attack. Mom is trying to decide if I should go back to class next week or if we need to find some where else to go. I hope we don't have to go back.
