Birthday: June 6th 2005 Likes: Snow, running, jumping, and getting dirty Pet-Peeves: ticks! Favorite Toy: rawhide chews Favorite Food: she's a picky eater Favorite Walk: any woods Best Tricks: sit, stay, down, over, shake Arrival Story: Nico is a rescue from Northern Lights Sled Dog Rescue. She came to us malnourished and timid of everything. When removed from her first home, Nico was so weak from lack of food she was unable to stand. She was filthy (didn't even know she was all white), she didn't like to be touched and seemed not to know how to be affectionate. Nearly one year later, Nico is a loving companion, who gently wakes us up in the morning with sweet kisses. I've Been On Dogster Since:
Have you ever seen a skunk? They kind of look like my cats but they don't move so fast, so I tried to make friends. Ohhhh was that a mistake! Mom had to go to PetSmart to get some special shampoo so I can come in the house. Everyone said to put tomato juice on me, but mom didn't want my white coat to turn orange. I still smell a little like my new friend. And because I went up in the front field to see the skunk, now I have to stay on my leash this week or until I can better remember to "recall." Moral of story, be careful who you try to make friends with!
I just had a visit to my vet today. It's been 1 year since I came to my new forever home. The vet said I was doing really good. I'm not so skinny anymore, but I still hide food sometimes. My coat doesn't feel like straw anymore but I'm really soft (all those fish oil caplets I have eaten in the last year). I'm not quite so scared of new people. The vet said mom & dad were doing an excellent job helping me rehabilitate.
Mom had noticed this small hard spot under my coat. The vet said it was a BB (someone shot me with a BB gun before I came to my new forever home!!!) It made my mom really sad :(
I hope other dogs who have people who don't take care of them, find a new forever home like I did.
