Arrival Story:
I had wanted a dog since I was a kid, but my mom was adamantly against pets. So, my second year after graduating college and living on my own, the boss of my boyfriend's friend had some Husky puppies that were getting too old to sell. I had always wanted a Husky, but we decided to go to a local pound in NW Pennsylvania/SE New York to see if the Husky personality agreed with mine. So, at the pound there was a Husky mix that was a fairly old and mean dog. My heart fell...then we walked past the puppy area....there was a litter of lab mixes and one of golden retrievers. My boyfriend and I had to stop and play with them all. The first one that drew my eye was the cutest little male lab mix...he had puppy eyes to die for. Unfortunately, that was all he had...quite dumb in person. Anyways...he had two sisters, one with a brown cross and one with a white cross. The white girl was already adopted so I thought I would play with the brown cross named "Ginger." She was soooo cute and sooo curious in the meet n' greet room that my boyfriend went to get his Great Pyrenees from the car to see what Ginger would do when confronted by a 120 pound dog. Needless to say, she went right up to the Pyrenees (Harley) and sniffed her nose. Harley plopped down on the floor and Ginger climbed all over her....that was the end...or better yet, the beginning...Ginger became Lily when we brought her home (named after the Bob Dylan song), and they have been sisters ever since.
