Arrival Story:
We lost our Lab "Tucker" the previous year and were just starting to think about getting another dog. There was an ad in the paper for a breeder selling 3 adult dogs, one of which was a 2-year-old "Red Pointing Lab". When we went to check him out he was living in a house-full of dogs, all kept in kennels, and there was nothing but a dirt yard. For these reasons we consider him a rescue dog. He was very skinny and skittish and really had no social skills. (See second photo taken the day we brought him home.) Although he was so very different from our beloved lab, we saw his potential, immediately fell in love with him and knew we found "the one". He was absolutely petrified to ride in our SUV, and when we got him home we learned he didn't know how to go up and down stairs. He was afraid of everything, including us! We've had Jack for over 5 years now and he has become such a lover and a really good dog. He is so funny and smart and analyzes everything around him. We couldn't ask for a better dog and he brings so much joy to our lives.

Bio:
We were told by the breeder that he was a "Red Pointing Lab", a new breed recognized by AKC. Judging by his howl, black muzzle, long tail, muscular build and personality, we have determined that this was a sneaky way of telling us that we were the proud owners of a hound dog. UPDATE -- JULY 5, 2008 After struggling with a debilitating auto immune disorder for the last three years, our special boy was recently diagnosed with megaesophagus and lost his battle today at the age of 7. He was such a huge part of our lives and will be greatly missed. We love and miss you, sweet baby boy.
