Arrival Story:
Mom was actually out looking for a beagle when she found me... I came from a sloppy backyard (over) breeder (mom says my neurotic tendencies are a product of this) and I was the last pup left. My father came from a pet store (puppy mill) and my mother was from a very good feild trial line... they said my tail was too long and I was too shy but mom thought I was "just right". When mom bought me two things contributed to my name. First, she had a boyfriend that she thought she was going to marry and have children with and he wanted to name his first born son William. She didn't like that name and thought "hey, if I name the dog Bill (which the kid would be called) he won't want to name a kid after a dog"! Second, she was broke and shouldn't have been buying a dog but they accepted VISA. So... I was papered as "K-L's Visa Bill" since I was just one more item added to that card that she would be paying interst on for god knows how long.

Bio:
Check out this note Mom wrote in my birthday card - it gave me a tear in my eye... "Bill you are turning ten today and I had to sit and reflect on all you've gone through with me. We've lived nine different places, you've had to put up with many different boyfriends, had to console me and kiss away my tears through mean bosses, break ups, bad days, sad movies and sick days! I can't imagine having gone through all of this without you. Bill, with all of your quirks and craziness, you've been my knight in shining armor and I'm so blessed to have you - happy birthday baby!"

Sadly, we had to let Bill go on Labor Day weekend 2010. He is still missed every day and I hope he is having a blast up there at the Rainbow Bridge while he waits for me.

I got Tagged!
June 1st 2007
Andy Panda tagged me!

Here are the rules:
Each player starts with seven random facts about themselves. Dogs who are tagged need to post the rules & their 7 pawsome facts in their Diary. Then they choose 7 dogs to tag and list their names. Don’t forget to bark them a pmail that they have been tagged and to read your Diary, or, send them a fun Rosette announcing they've been Tagged! I hope you've got it!

7 pawsome facts about me:

1. I was the runt of the litter
2. I am the apple of my mommy's eye
3. I have a kitty named Bob
4. I can't stand to be on the floor - I must be on someones lap or on the couch or bed
5. I love going for rides in the truck with my dad
6. I am starting to go deaf so I can bark and bark and not annoy myself
7. At twelve years of age I still run faster than my siblings - a 3 1/2 year old Chesapeake and a 4 year old Golden

Here's who I tagged:
1. Otis
2. Bentley, King of the World
3. Tasha
4. Bandit
5. Baylee
6. Bubba
7. Scarlet

Have fun, Every body!

Escapades!

Well it's taken me a few days to be able to type this entry... you see, I hurt myself during my little escapade on Sunday.

Mom and Dad took Bentley trail riding and left Bella and I home with the damn cats! At first we just sort of hung out and looked for things to entertain ourselves but then I realized that the cats hadn't eaten all of their food up in the window sill. Because I LOVE cat food I have become quite adept at crawling up onto the back of the hide-a-bed and licking the dishes.

So, I had my front feet up in the window sill licking kitty dishes when I got a whiff of something outside. I realized it was coming through the three inch crack in the window that Mom left for fresh air. I got a little closer and tried to fit my nose in there and the window MOVED! Hmmm I thought... I wonder if it moves any further? I managed to push and push the window until it was over ten inches wide and now there was just a screen blocking me from freedom. I jumped up into the window sill to take a closer look at things and manged to push the bottom of the screen out with my nose. I could now see that there was a six foot drop to the ground but my sister Bella was right behind me rooting me on so off I went! I had a bit of a rough landing but Bella jumped out right behind me and we were FREE!

We had SO MUCH FUN! We headed for the barn where we had a little buffet of horse poop and barn kitty food, then we got a little warm so we headed to the creek for a swim. After that good snack and a little swim we were tired so we headed out to the horse stalls (they were out in the pasture) and took naps.

When Mom got home she went in the house to get us and panicked when she called and we didn't come. She ran through the house calling us and when she hit the office/guestroom and saw the open window with missing screen - she knew! Mom was crying as she ran outside to tell Dad we were missing and stopped in her tracks when she saw Dad petting us and he said "wow, they got out to the barn fast - did you let them out the back door?" Mom was so mad but so relieved that she just gave us both lots of love... then she said something like "thank you so much for letting my babies be safe and still at home" as she looked up at the sky.

After all the excitement wore off I realized my front right leg was sore and once in a while I walk around with a limp for Mom... but when she isn't looking I still run around and play. However, it does hurt and I think maybe next time I will just stay in the house - Mom says I could have killed myself!

Changes... changes... changes...

For only being ten I have gone through a lot of changes in my life. All of our moving wasn't too bad - I might even say it was an adventure moving nine times in my short life! All of Mom's different jobs, dates, friends, parties... it was all interesting and I never got too riled up with anything as I knew nothing lasted that long in our world. Now... I'm beginning to wonder.

Mom got married and bought a house last year - these were good changes. I love my new Dad and our house is great with the giant yard and creek... however, along with this new house came two dreadful puppies! Mom said they would be good for me and I suppose I have lost weight, gotten in great shape and seem to be more alert... but they drive me crazy! The big floppy yellow one is always sitting on me, running me over, watching to see if I drop any of my food and trying to take all of Mom's attention. The smaller crazy brown one also runs me over, steals attention, never sits still and has an ear piercing bark. They both drive me nuts but I have to admit that when they go somewhere with Mom and Dad it is waaay tooo quiet around the house... and I do miss having the big yellow one around to be my pillow and keep me warm.

Now there is another change though - I have to go outside with the "big dogs" when Mom and Dad are at work. For years I have been allowed to stay in the house all day and now I am forced to endure the hardship of the 12x24 indoor/outdoor kennel with dog house, sandbox, toys, peanut butter filled Kong and a pool! (I wonder if had something to do with my peeing on the carpet every afternoon when I got mad that Mom wasn't home yet?) I must see how I can win my way back into the house before the chilly winter arrives... the way I can sit and shake like a leaf and make my ears vibrate always gets Mom - I'll try that if fall hits and I'm still in exile!
