Heylove's the name!

Just about every time my parents take me for a walk, people stop them and ask "what kind of dog is that?" I've even been mistaken for a pug. A pug?!?! puhleeze!

The second most common thing people ask is "what's his name", which my parents are quick to answer "HER name is Heylove", in which they get the response "Halo?"..."no HEY LOVE"..."Aylow?"..."no HEY LOVE"..."could you please spell that?"..."H-E-Y-L-O-V-E". After that they either get it, or continue to look perplexed.

Heylove - Like the Stevie Wonder song

Heylove - Like the Delfonics song

(both great songs by the way)

Sometimes I wish my parents just named me Sadie or Lola like everybody else.

Just about the best weekend ever

This weekend I graduated puppy kindergarten with a bachelor's degree in puppyhood. My teacher played "pomp and circumstance" while I got a diploma, a toy and at the end of the ceremony, they played a song called "who let the dogs out," which never really says why they let the dogs out, and where the dogs went. Personally, I prefer Bowie, who sings about Diamond Dogs.

So the next day, my mom and dad brought me to the beach. It was my first experience with sand! The sand was pretty fun when it wasn't blowing into my eyes, but the water was really loud and cold! Ialso did a nice hike up a huge hill and practically left my mom in the dust. Then I got to visit the best dog park ever in Berkeley. Lots of open space, tall grass for me to hide in, and so, so, so many other dogs. I really hope that I get to go back soon.

Who's idea was this?

My mom made me this stupid costume for some weird human party a couple of weekends ago. At this party, they have a contest to see how many marshmallow peeps one person can eat in 30 minutes. Because of this, my mom made me dress up like a little yellow peep. Whatever. It was kind of cold that day, so I'm a little glad I was wearing something over my fur. My dad entered the contest but only ate 37 peeps and didn't win. Even after my mom held me up and said "win for the dog," he still couldn't do it.

Other dogs

I love to look at other dogs, but playing with them is another story. Since my mom and dad were pretty protective of me as a young pup, I didn't meet any other puppies. Now that I'm fully vaccinated and ready to go out, other puppies kind of scare me when I meet them. I'm pretty sure I'll get over this, and I can't wait because these so-called "cats" are no fun at all. Their nails are so sharp!

Finally!

Now that I'm fully vaccinated, I can go on walks outside of our yard and meet other dogs. I had my first kiss with a handsome French Bulldog puppy, but larger dogs really scare me. I'm sure I'll get used to them, but for now it's baby steps....

If I don't continually test the patience of my mom & dad, I'll never figure out if I'm the boss of the house or not. So far, I think I'm winning!

Computer scientist finally finds out what sleepy little puppy does at home when mom & dad are at work.

More sleep!

I have my own webcam now, does that mean I'm a reality tv star?

Sit! Down!

This week I learned to sit and lay down for treats. Learning not to bite hands is a little tougher. I'm a puppy you know, and that's what we do. My mom and dad are just going to have to be a little more patient.

Whoa.

I have suddenly developed an intense love for peanut butter. This stuff is great!

What an ordeal!

I went to the vet today. Yes, again but this time for vaccinations. Since I am so tiny and delicate, I had an allergic reaction to the shot and broke out in swollen hives all over my face and....well, I'd rather not say where else, but the story ends with another trip to the vet for another scary needle stick, and a long, long nap in my daddy's arms. I'm pretty tired now, but expect to be up and ready to play sometime around 3:00 am tomorrow morning.
