Attention!

Pet-Peeves:
Chelsea can be needy and sometimes assumes the self-appointed role of 'cop' in the pack, doling out discipline.

Favorite Toy:
A disemboweled stuffed bear ('Shaky Bear') which she adores beating from side to side. Chelsea is also an enthusiastic retriever and loves to chase balls but she's had to fight Teddy for the option and he's just too little and quick for her to beat.

Favorite Food:
Just about ANYTHING! Chelsea is a bit of a pig and to compound the problem she has a thyroid imbalance that causes her weight gain. So she has to be monitored closely. She's learned to love raw baby carrots as a treat!

Favorite Walk:
A nearby community park.

Best Tricks:
Shake; Roll Over; High Five!

Arrival Story:
Chelsea had been advertised as up for adoption and I spotted a photo of her on a board at a local Petco. I contacted her former Mom who was planning on moving south to either Naples, Florida or San Antonio (depending on where her job took her) and knew that both locations would be miserable for a dog with her dense, heavy coat. We met at a large neighborhood park and allowed our dogs to meet on neutral turf. I wasn't sure just how receptive Sable would be to a similarly-sized, independent female. The meeting went well and there were no problems. Chelsea came for a visit to the house about a week later and generally very mild, non-demonstrative Sable set the ground rules and chose to use this occasion to inform Chelsea that SHE would be top dog. Chelsea backed down, accepted the Number 2 spot and officially came to live with us the following week.

Bio:
Like a great many purebred dogs, Chelsea has some health issues. She has an overactive thyroid, is prone to urinary tract infections (which can cause incontinence without ongoing medication) and suffers from some autoimmune skin infections. Throughout it all though she's really very stoic, loving and easy-going. Chelsea loves attention of any kind from anyone but especially so from children and they in turn are drawn to her. Her snowy white coat is eye-catching and kids love to cuddle this big animated toy! She is very much a cold-weather loving dog and thoroughly enjoys romping through snow.
