Arrival Story:
Carmela is currently being fostered through Animal Rescue Foundation of Illinois (ARF) near Glen Ellyn, IL. If you or someone you know is interested in adopting precious Carmela, please fill out an online adoption application at, and mention that you found this pup on ** UPDATED 05/12/09** My furiends at ARF found me the BEST furever home!! **

Carmela is a very petite purebred Boxer. She was very scared in the animal control facility where her previous owner dropped her & her sister off. But within 1 day of being in her foster home, having had a bath and lots of affection, she is a relaxed & curious girl. With time she will trust again and be a wonderful little companion. She is quite small & thin, only 43 lbs. Most of her teeth are worn down to the gums, probably as a result of chewing on the bars of cages. Her dental issues will be addressed by ARF before she is adopted. The deep folds in her adorable face will require regular cleaning. She is up to date on vaccines, spayed, heartworm negative, housetrained and good with dogs.

Hi, I am Carmela the Boxer. I went to my new home this afternoon. I loved my foster skin parents, and I was really getting to like my foster fur brother's and sister, and even the funny kitty dogs were pretty cool.

I've had a very tough life to this point. I am so glad that I am out of the Animal Control facility. I was so scared, I couldn't eat and my health was failing. The Animal Control people were as kind as they could be to me, and recognized that I just could not deal with that environment. My heartfelt thanks to them for getting me out to a foster home. I would have been happy to stay with my fosters forever. They found me a very nice, loving family and now that I'm adopted, my fosters can help another deserving and needy pup.

I am getting some medical and dental work done this Friday, and afterwards I hope to feel even better than I do know. My new mom and skin sisters are very nice and I will fall in love with them very quickly. It will be wonderful to be cared for and loved in my forever home.

My next diary entry will be from my new forever family. Let me take this last opportunity to say thank you to my foster parents, and those who helped me find my forever family. I love you, and I know you loved me and took care of me as if I was one of your own. You will always be in my heart, and I in yours.

To my new family, I say: "Lets have a great life together!"

Wiggles and curls,
