New bed

I got a new bed from Cabela's in West Virginia. It is an orthopedic bed and is like a mattress! Mom and dad went there for a day trip. It should be comfy with my leg pain.

Big boy!

I am now 8 months old and a whopping 73#! My rapid growth is creating havoc with my joints though.

Panosteitis

Panosteitis is a spontaneously occurring lameness that usually occurs in large breed dogs. German Shepherds seems to be particularly predisposed to this condition.

Affected dogs are usually in the 5 to 14 month age range and male dogs are more commonly infected than female dogs. The disease has been reported in dogs as young as 2 months and can occur in young mature dogs. The lameness tends to occur very suddenly, usually without a history of trauma or excessive exercise. In most cases one or the other front leg is affected first and then the problem tends to move around, making it appear that the lameness is shifting from leg to leg. There are often periods of improvement and worsening of the symptoms in a cyclic manner. In most cases, the worst pain lasts between one and two months but may persist in a cyclic nature for up to a year. Analgesic medications like aspirin can be be helpful. In This condition is self limiting, meaning that it will eventually go away,severe cases, corticosteroids may provide relief.
I went to the er vet today with severe pain in my right foot. I had an x-ray and this is my diagnosis. I will out grow this. The vet gave me 2 medications to help with the pain and inflammation.

Sore paw

I injured my paw again. I jumped off the bed the other day and have been limping since. I got out of dog class this week so I can let it heal.

big birds!!!

Oh my! There were big birds in my yard today. I bet there were 15 of them. Mom called them turkey. I chased them in the woods.

Lady bugs!

Look out pups, the bugs have hatched and they are flying all over PA. They are not good to eat and smell funny too!

Conformation classes

Look out boys, I may be a pup now, but I'm a mighty big pup.I'm going to pass you all up. I'm very handsome and learning the ropes of conformation. In just a few classes, we can see a difference. I'm going to be lots of competition in the future. I'm bigger and faster than Toby too!

I started taking conformation classes. Dad learned to handle me at the dog shows. We have lots to learn. I did very well for my first class and look forward to learning more. Yes, there were a few snooty dog owners there with prissy dogs. I'll show them who is boss!

Great weekend-great show!

I had lots of fun this past weekend at the dog show. I got to meet lots of other white german shepherds and their owners. I did well for my first show. Dad did a great job handling me. Mom did 1 show with me. I am a handful and still have lots of pup in me. I did well with 2 blue ribbons in the regional show and 2 blue ribbons in the national show. I hope to continue to learn and socialize.

Show!

Woohoo! I won 2 blue ribbons yesterday in the regional show. Keep your paws crossed. Today I'm in the national show. I did pretty well for my first show. Dad handled me the first show and mom handled me in the second show. Mom also was asked to handle 2 other dogs in the show. The dog show folks are really nice and told mom what to do.It is fun to meet other dogs and their owners.
