Arrival Story:
Sadie was one of several hundred dogs that were rescued from a puppy mill. I work at a dog kennel/training facility and they took in several of the dogs that need care. Sadie came in with 7 puppies and was terrified of people. I visited with the dogs everyday and something about her just melted my heart. I think she knew that we were the good guys. I started fostering her around the end of February and after about a month I knew that I wanted to keep her. She started to become more social with people and other dogs. Plus she has really bonded with my other dog Oscar. I can't imagine life without her.

Bio:
I don't know much about her past, but I can imagine that she was living in horrible conditions. She has spent most of her life living in a crate and having to walk through her own messes. She didn't get nearly enough to eat or drink as she was very thin when I first saw her. Her coat was dirty. I remember the first day I took her home. She was so scared to come out of her crate and everytime I walked by she would cower in the corner. I left the crate door open so that she could go in and out as she wanted. I started gaining her trust with food. Slowly she would come to me more often looking to get a treat. I remember the day when she first took a treat from a complete stranger at a pet store and I was so happy to see that my hard work was paying off. I had been looking into getting another dog for about a year and she just fit in so well. I decided to adopt her so that my dog could have a buddy and so I could spoil her throughout the rest of her life. She still has some issues that I am working on. She is still very afraid of people and we are working on potty training. I am so lucky to have found her and given her a much better life.

Potty Training

My mommy says that I need to learn how to go potty where I'm supposed to. She tries to get me to go outside to use the bathroom, but I hold it until I get inside. I just get too distracted with all the noises and sights in the outside world. So mommy finally decided to litterbox train me. She puts potty pads inside the box for me to go on. Sometimes I like to go in the right spot, but lately I have been going all over the floor. Boy, when mommy sees that she goes crazy- saying how much I shouldn't potty on the floor and the blankets. At least I know that she still loves me lots!
