Birthday: July 6th 2008 Likes: To be held close and rubbed. Pet-Peeves: To be alone. Favorite Toy: Yellow rubber ball. & cloth squirrel Favorite Food: Purina One Lamb & Rice Favorite Walk: Across the street or anywhere you want to take her. Best Tricks: Throwing up a ball and playing by herself. Arrival Story: Maddie was being held in a small animal control of a rural town. The director was being forced to put her down along with 18 other dogs because 19 dogs were picked up on a cruelty case. The intakes had to be held for trial and there just was not enough space there for them all. I volunteer along with my husband with ARFLA. We went along with 2 other vehicles and rescued 21 dogs from the pound. Maddie was the smallest, though not the youngest we rescued. Maddie had been set to be put down on Sat. but the director saved her until we could get her on Tue. I was going just to help transport, but when I was asked to take Maddie I coundn't refuse. So with 8 dogs at home I picked up that dirty, flea bitten baby and headed home. I'm so glad I did. She is so precious. She deserves a chance at a long, happy life. Bio: Maddie's fur is so soft. It looks like wire, like it would be course but it's very soft. I gave her 2 baths in 3 days to get the pound smell out of her coat. She is very cute. She had fleas, diarreah, tape worms and kennel cough. By the end of the first week she had nothing left of her problems but a slight cough. She is still on Rx meds for the kennel cough and it will be gone soon. She is small. Very happy, playfull. Plays by herself. Throws up her toys and catches them then growls at them. She is a sweetie pie! Forums Motto: Life is good. I continue to hear from Maddie's family. They love her and she is very happy. I only home I can find such wonderful homes for all the dog that we foster. I am so happy for Maddie. I am happy for her family also.
It's 2 wks today that Maddie has been in her new home. Got an email from her Dad that said they love her and they feel she is part of their family now. They will not be giving her back. Yeah! sniff, sniff. I miss her. For all the funny things about her. She made us laugh and just made life more fun for Heidi and the others. She ciuld make even Buddy play! She was a joy for us to foster and we will forever be glad we had her as part of our lives. I know she will be taken good care of and have all the love she could want.
Maddie's mom called today and said they love her but she is still having accidents in the house. She has used the carpet for her bathroom several times. I offered some suggestions and told her Maddie can come back if she gets tired of working with her on this problem. :-( We shall see.
