Zera is currently being fostered through Animal Rescue Foundation of Illinois (ARF-IL) near Glen Ellyn, IL. If you or someone you know is interested in adopting sweet Zera, please fill out an online adoption application at ARF-IL, and mention that you found this pup on Dogster.com.

Bio:
Zera came to the pound with her puppies. All her pups were rescued and she was left behind. She is very loving, with a high energy level. She is very bright & would benefit greatly from obedience classes and is a great candidate for agility training! A fenced yard is required, and she would do best in a home without other dogs. Her forever home must be cat-free. Zera is 65 pounds of wiggley, affectionate energy. Due to her strength and excitability, we had her temperment tested through our veterinary office. Over a 5 day period, Zera was put in many potentially volatile situations to give her the opportunity to act out. Their finding was that, other than being a big dork, Zera would make a great family dog for a family with a 6 foot fence. The staff all loved her and came out to say goodbye to her when she left, saying what a sweetheart she is. She still has a lot of excitable, playful puppy energy, so children must be 13 years or older, because she doesn't know her own strength and, when excited, acts like a bull in china shop. She is up to date on vaccines, spayed, crate trained & housetrained. Zera's foster family loves her to pieces. She is still very puppy-like, probably just 2 years old. She is desparate for love and attention from people, and very active. She is very treat motivated and has a very high desire to please her people, so she should do very well with positive training and may even be a candidate for agility training. She is a big squirmy bundle of love with people. She's had a difficult time finding a loving home because she's so active, she cannot go to a home with cats, and she sometimes has issues with some but not all dogs. She needs a family that will understand and work with her triggers and appreciate her devoted, loving nature.

WANTED: 1 Loving, Furever Home.

I have a furever home!

Well, at long last, I have found my furever home! I loved my foster parents, but it was tough here at times. Since I want to eat any cats I meet, and there were two in the house, I was crated more than I or my fosters would have liked. Also, I had a couple of tussles with my foster dog siblings... usually I was fine but sometimes our play just got too rough.

My foster Man wasn't at the adoption event to say goodbye to me today, because he was doing a transport to help save other dogs, like me, who need homes. Foster Mom was there to tell my new Man all about me, and she sent me off with some big hugs and kisses. I thank them both for rescuing me and taking me into their home for nearly five months. I wouldn't be here without you.

As tough as I am and as tough as my life was before rescue, I am capable of gentleness and loving people like few other dogs can. And, now I have a Man of my very own to love, and I don't have to share him with any other dogs or (grr.... ) cats. This is a perfect home for me! And now, on with a great life!

I Love to Play with Teddy Bears

Fostermom took a movie of me and my fosterbrother, Teddy Bear, rough-housing in the yard. I'm waaaay faster than Teddy! He's a really easygoing kinda guy and lets me be a goofball and doesn't even get mad. If you listen you can hear me grrrring really good 'cuz I like to sound tough. Some dogs get all defensive when I start grrring, but Teddy doesn't care. We have great fun when we run and play together in the yard.

I'm Zera & I'm new here. We're pretty sure I'm a Shepherd/Boxer mix. I am living with my foster parents right here in Warrenville, IL !! They love me so much but they're having a hard time finding the right home fur me & they can't adopt me 'cuz they already have 3 big doggies of their own & that's the limit where they live, plus I really don't like their 2 kitties. :(

I was rescued by ARF-IL from a high-kill shelter in southern Illinois when my time was up. Another rescue took my puppies, but they left me behind. The shelter said I'm a Shepherd/Boxer mix, but maybe there's some American Bulldog in there, too.

I've got tons of energy & I'm a very happy girl. I'm still very much a puppy myself at heart. Fostermom says I'm gonna need to be trained on the basics and that I'd probably be great at agility because I have so much energy but I'm very eager to please my people, and would do cartwheels for a treat! I can be a challenge because I love to climb all over & lick people but that's because before I was rescued I was chained outside (and not spayed at the time) and got no attention from my humans. Also, the sight of kitties drives me crazy, and though I get along with most dogs, I take issue with some. But that's something that a good obedience class can correct. On the other hand, when I settle down in your lap I can sleep there for an hour, and I'll follow you wherever you go. I lay quietly in the crate when you have to leave me, and I play very well with my very timid fostersis, Sasha. So please, Furever Home, see me for the loving, loyal, happy girl that I am and hurry to get me. I love you already!

Love & licks... Zera

I hope my new furever family reads this and comes to get me right away.
Please read my profile & help me find my furever home. Fostermom says I'm such a big squirmy bundle of love.

Thank you...
