I have been struggling with a few pounds for the last couple of years. I weighed 209 lbs. last year at my vet appointment. This year - I am happy to announce - I am a trim, slim 207 lbs! I lost 2 pounds!! My vet was less than enthusiastic, stating that I needed to lose more like 20 lbs. But ... take the zero away and you have "2." Right?!
I think I am fine, afterall, I am extremely tall for a St. Bernard - 34 inches at the shoulder. Really more like a Mastiff and they get to be about 200 lbs. So what that the average Saint is 150 lbs. I'm not average!! I love to run and leap ... so I do get lots of exercise.
I will keep trying to lose more, but I'd like to savor the small accomplishment at hand for a while.
OH JOY ...... My family brought home dinner for PIZZA NIGHT!!!! You know what that means ..... CRUSTS FOR ME!!!

I made a new friend the other day. I was outside helping to do yard work with my Daddy, when I spied a small feathered thing walking in the garage. I went up to it. It made small cheepy noises. I sniffed at it. My Daddy told me to leave it alone, but I didn' t want to. I followed it for a few minutes, sniffed at it a couple of times, then I got bored and left.
My Mommy told me that it was a baby Morning Dove. I didn't understand because I saw it in the afternoon. Each day I go out and look for my new friend, the baby dove.
Yesterday, I saw my friend sitting on our brick column by the front door. A larger "dove" was with him. It must have been his mommy. I went up to see my friend, but the mommy flew away. I sniffed at my friend again and went to help my Daddy weed.
I like my new friend. I hope we stay friends for a long time!!!

My brother Scotland has been on a diet for six months now, and he recently went to the vet to check his progress (or LACK OF in his case.) He found out that instead of losing weight, he gained a pound instead!! He can't have any dry food. I found this to be extremely funny!!! I laughed for weeks!!
Well, I stand here a testiment to the old saying "what goes around, comes around." I went to my vet for my annual check up and found out that I too have to go on a diet. I am 209 lbs. I need to lose 20 pounds!! I tried to explain to the vet that I, like my brother Scot, am just big-boned!! It worked as well as it did for Scot.
Don't you worry, though, I gave the vet a few low growls to show my displeasure in all this before I left that office.
The lesson in all this ... watch what you say to others!!
