Arrival Story:
About 3 years ago, I began to think about having a dog. I'd always had cats, but the allergies had increased too much; I'd gotten a rabbit, but she wasn't really 'cuddly', nor did I feel like she would love me. My son was hitting his pre-teens, and I guess I was feeling kind of forlorn. I wanted to be sure about getting a dog: so I began to do a lot of research. When we moved from an apartment to a house, that was it! I was determined to have a ball of love for my lap. So, which kind of dog to choose? I knew it had to be a small dog, 'cause I wanted a lap buddy, and I considered Schipperkes, Chihuahuas, etc. But my friend Gabi came over one day and brought her Pom, Kirby, and that was IT! I thought Kirby was THE COOLEST! I began to do research on the 'Net, and I found Bailey. At that time, they were calling him 'Curly'. He was the runt of the litter, and the only dark-brown one in a litter of light-orange pups. I contacted the breeder and asked to come see him. In the car I hopped, and drove 6 hours round-trip to rural PA. When I met the pups, 'Curly', although the tiniest, was ON TOP of the HEAP! He came right over to me and that was it. It was so hard to wait the 4 weeks until he could come home! But at last, me, my husband, and my son trekked back out to PA to bring 'Curly' rechristened 'Bailey', home. Now, we can't ever imagine life without him! Everything was so BORING P.B. (Pre-Bailey).
