Arrival Story:
My husband and I recently lost our pitbull Haze...we were truly devastated. We got Haze just months after we were first married. He was like our baby. A couple of months before we lost Haze, I had been in contact with a local breeder about getting another dog--a dachshund. My husband and I were on the fence about we decided to wait. About one month after our pitbull's passing the breeder called, unknowing of our loss. We talked for awhile and I explained our situation. She said that that's the reason I needed to come see the puppy she had for me...she knew that this was the dog for me. Now mind you...I had researched and asked questions and studied but nothing prepared me for what I was in store for. Haze was a quiet, gentle soul...full of life but was the the picture of discipline with my husband, a big baby with me. Preston was something entirely different. For the first week I spent most of my time laid on the floor in front of Preston's crate trying to coax him out with treats, baby talk, toys, everything but the kitchen sink. Finally worn out, I collapsed on the carpet in front of him...totally spent. As if to say, "Okay you've earned my approval" Preston walked out of his crate and sat by my side, nothing more. We've been best buddies ever since. And if it is possible to have a dog that has the same characteristics of yourself then I have done it. He's stubborn, affectionate, histerical, busy, curious, anxious, humorous, all of this rolled into one. I have been blessed to have had Haze in my life. Now I am on my second doggie blessing.
