We talked to the Apartment office and they told us specifically no Pitbulls, Rottweilers, or Dobermans. No problem. I started my search at the local pounds and shelters and the current lot of dogs were all mixed with the restricted breeds. I ended up visiting a Breeder in Braidwood, IL. He had a bunch of puppies and they were cute as buttons but then he showed me the two older pups they were going to keep. There she was in the cage with her solid black sister. I thought she was beautiful. The breeder said he would give us a discount on the older dogs. I brought my Husband back and we looked again at the puppies and then at Ruby and her dark sister. Joe wanted her sister but Ruby wouldn't have it...she walked right up to my husband while he was petting her ebony sibling and pushed right in and took all the loving and attention for herself. Joe couldn't dare choose Ruby's sister after this blunt display. We went to the Apartment office just to double check with the head honcho, Jim and he told us there was no problem with us getting a German Shepherd...YES! We put our deposit on her immediately. Joe went to pick her up soon after. We had Ruby for one night and we were head over heals for her. She was everything we wanted in an apartment dog, quiet, well behaved, easy to train. The next morning we went to the Apartment Manager, Jim, to set everything down in writing. Jim completely changed his story saying she wasn't allowed and we should just give her back to the breeder or to the pound. We didn't know where this came from because we had talked to him specifically and made sure everything was all ready for us to bring her home. Unfortunately he was unshakeable even though we had all the paperwork proving our point. So, Ruby went to stay at "Grandma's" House for a week and we left the Apartment complex...a very expensive decision I must add. But you do extraordanary things for the ones you love. Bio: Ruby is a Black and Tan long coated GSD with Blanket back Markings. Her facial marking is called a faded mask! She carries the Pure White & Pure Black genes which in my opinoin makes her incredibly special even beyond her talents. She is 26 1/2" at the shoulder making her larger than Breed and Gender AKC standards although she is small to me. She is truely an exceptional girl. Forums Motto: Who says dogs aren't people too? Just like with Hollywood superhero Angelina Jolie, they broke the mold after they created Ruby!
Defying the conventional meaning of the word pawpular, Ruby can't scratch behind an ear without it being reported and talked about. Ruby leaves pets of the opposite sex blubbering and babbling nonsensically after each encounter, their cuteness and charm receptors bubbling over with excitement. Always one to entice a broad audience, Ruby not only loves to strut her stuff on the dogwalk, but digs every chance she gets to make a difference, adopt a pet in need or dish out for her favorite charity.
After cutting my nails Momma discovered gross hotspots between my toes on my rear feet. The puss and smell was yucky. She had been trying to stop me from licking them for a day or two before but my long fur hid the problem well. Now it's meds and getting well.
No cone head was needed this time around luckily the Clavamox and peroxide worked miracles. I am feeling much better. Between my toes has almost healed completely. :)
I think my new year's resolution should be to try not to bite myself so much this year. It is very hard thing to do because when something is irritating all I want to do is fix the irritation and biting at the problem tends to make it feel better --for the moment.

We did a lot of swimming today.
We also had a beautiful picinic on the sand.
A full day of Sun, Sand, and water. It was great.
Not everyday can you dig until your hearts content with your family cheering you on the whole way.
