Arrival Story:
My hubby and I went to a pet supply store to get some dog food. There was an adoption fair going on. Usually I can go over, play with the dogs and walk away. Well, I walked over, sat down, and this skinny brindle girl crept over, crawled into my lap, looked at me and basically said, "I'm yours." It was incredible. So after talking it over with (aka begging) my hubby, we went to meet her again at her foster home. We took Ranger and they got along really well. After we left, we decided to adopt her. Such a happy day for me!!

Mayzie was rescued from a terrible situation. She had had a puppy and her "owners" called the rescue to surrender it. When they got there, they found Mayzie (the puppy's mama) tied up outside without any food, water, or shelter. She was severely underweight and had lost a lot of hair due to stress. They were able to talk them into surrendering her as well. I will never understand how anyone could do that to such a loving, sweet, amazing girl. Since she never lived in a house, there are lots of fears that we worked to help her overcome (hardwood floors, ceiling fans, etc.). With lots of patience, training and "cheese therapy," Mayzie has blossomed into a happy, bubbly, confident dog. She'll always be cautious about new things and places but it's so wonderful to see this formerly fearful pup come into her own and learn to love life!
