Dog Days of Summer

It's been a little bit since my mom's had time to type for me! I've grown so much, she can't believe how big of a girl I am!
We recently had a big luau at our new house, it was SO fun. People couldn't get enough of me! They fed me cheese and played with me until I was so worn out I collapsed on the floor...and it took the entire next day for me to recover all my energy. I'm glad mom's friends thought I was cute, I LOVED all the attention and I keep begging mom to have them all back over soon so I can play some more!
In more serious news, I almost got eaten by this fuzzy red grouchy dog! My mom took me for a walk in the neighborhood and a nice man was interested in what kind of pooch I was. My mom was standing talking to him about me while I sniffed around his mailbox. (something I enjoy very much!) We heard a dog barking, but mom thought it was behing a fence.....it wasn't! It came screaming at me and I just stood there like "what"? He sniffed me a little and his owner came running after him, he was in BIG trouble! He ran off again because I guess he didn't want to go home, but I wanted to play with him so I barked after him and tried to follow. Mom wouldn't let me, she thought it was best if we went home before the big, grumpy fluffy red dog came screaming back at us. What an adventure!
I've been spending my days of summer playing in the back yard in my new pool. Mom has to work, so I entertain myself by manhandling her flowers, chewing on branches that are bigger than me, and flopping around in my pool...it's quite the life! Oh! I forgot, I prefer to chew on rocks rather than the bones that my mom buys me.
Stay cool! *woof*

My journey home...

Well my new mom decided it was time to write my story down....it's a good one!
It all started when my mom bought her first house and decided that with the massive fenced in back yard, she needed a new 4 legged friend. She tried to get her Bernie back, but gramma and papa wouldn't allow that, so she started her search for me. Mom and my auntie Minga were being bored one weekend looking on the internet at puppies when they stumbled across my add. They called the number and decided to come look at me and my brothers, sisters and cousins. They drove 3 hours to middle of nowhere, Oklahoma just to look at me! (That's love!) When they got to the place where I was born, it made them sad to see the conditions I was being raised in. There were about 8-9 other breeds of dogs, all under weight, tick/flea infested and some were very unsociable. My mom just couldn't stand to leave me there, so she paid the guy and swept me away. (Mom said something about calling the Sheriff's department about that mean man.....she was furious!)
The drive home was long, but I slept on mom's lap most of the way. I made myself right at home and let her know that she was the greatest by giving her puppy kisses. I guess I got a little too excited because we had to pull over and I had to get in the back seat, mom was afraid we were going to wreck with me bouncing around in her lap. Her truck is pretty big, but so am I so she decided it was safer that way. I didn't really mind, she brought a blankie for me, so I snuggled in and slept the entire way home without ever making a peep....mom kept looking back to check on me, she was afraid I was sick.
We got to my new house and there were already toys, a bed, more blankies and food just for ME...that's pretty awesome! My mom gave me a bath as soon as we got home because I had ticks everywhere....she pulled off about 15 by the time bath time was over. I didn't really know what to think about this thing she called a bath, but I sat there and looked at her until she was satisfied I was all clean.
We got back kind of late and after the bath, I was pooped! My mom hadn't found me a crate yet, so I got to sleep in her bed and snuggle with her. (She says I'm really good at it!) I woke her up a few times because I had to potty, so we went outside in the dark...that was scary!
The next day was Easter, so we loaded up in mom's truck and went to gramma's house. I met my big brother Bernie who lives on the farm and tried to play with him, but he wasn't very interested in me. *pouts* I just wanted to be friends! I got to meet my whole family...they all thought I was the cutest thing!
I played so much with my new family that I slept the whole way home AND I got my new puppy palace! (If my mom can't find me, I'm usually curled up with my blankies inside it sleeping.)
The next day mom had to go back to work, but auntie Minga stayed with me and we played all day! She's the best! the evening mom took me to the vet for a checkup...it wasn't very bad news like she was afraid of. The vet got down on the floor and played with me...I was a little scared of him, but after a few minutes I was licking his face like I'd known him forever. He said that the only thing that he could find wrong with me was my weight 20 pounds at 10 weeks...he called me scrawny! So, mom has been trying to pack on the pounds so my little ribs don't poke out anymore. (That was 3 weeks ago...now I'm up to 31 pounds!)
My new life is great! My favorite thing to do is to attack the rake while mom is raking up leaves. We have raked up 30 bags of leaves so far out of my back yard and if the rain will ever stop we have more to bag.
