Playing catch (she sits, I throw the soccer ball up high and she catches it in her mouth), and she just learned shake
Arrival Story:
It was November 2003, and I had just begun living alone for the first time. I knew I wanted a dog, and had been visiting animal shelters for awhile to "just look." I walked into Chicago Animal Care and Control intending to get an adult dog, and Kayla was the first dog I saw--just a baby (5 1/2 months), shivering in the corner of her cage. I kept looking around for other dogs, and even left the shelter for awhile to think about it, but I came back a couple hours later and somehow just kept coming back to her. I had already decided that if I got a black dog, I'd name her Kayla--I knew she was supposed to be mine!
Bio:
We're learning everything together...I've never had a dog (besides family dogs as a child) before, and she is very strong-willed. She is also very loving and affectionate, though, and matures more every day. We're puppy class dropouts, and I've done most of her training on my own, but we're getting ready to try agility classes after I discovered her love for playing "catch!"
