I am absolutely fascinated by the commerical for Family Guy when the little kid stands by his mom's bed and says "mom mummy" over and over. I can be sound asleep and when that commercial comes on, I stare at the TV until it is over. I look and listen and stare as if mesmerized until its done every time!

Fall is here!

It has been a very busy month or so. We moved in late August! It took Zoe, Zada and I a few weeks to settle into the new house. However, we absolutely LOVE the new yard. It is much bigger and the new fence is huge. We can hit full speed and race around chasing each other. There is even a pond for swimming (more appropriately called "mud-wading").
We all love it here, but we don't love the baths that come after muddy trips to the pond.

The other day, B. came home at lunch to let us outside and there were a few doves in a tree. The doves flew away, but I noticed a bird feeder way up in the tree. I stood on my back two legs and kept trying to swat at it even though I was at least 5 feet short. B. laughed at me!

Even though it is September and Warriors Mark season has begun, we haven't been hunting lately. B. and J. have been just too busy with the move. Hopefully we'll get to go soon! Everyone is anxious to see how I'll do in the field with Zada. I'm sure it will be fun!

My First Points!

Time is flying by. Can't believe we're almost at 6 months old already. Since last check-in there have been 3 vet visits (2 for surgery and follow up and one after I ran into a door with my sisters and hurt my foot) but now I'm fit and feeling great.

We started pointer classes in July at Warriors Mark. I missed one for surgery and one after I hurt my foot so I'm not getting a perfect attendance award. However, last night, I found and did a wonderful, solid point on a chukkar. Then, I had another solid point on a pigeon during training. B. and J. were very happy. It was funny, but before we found birds, I was frolicking through the fields eating blades of grass and chasing butterflies. After the chukkar, I was suddenly all business. Nose to the ground and really into finding more birds!
Can't wait for hunting season this fall. I'm sure big sister Zada will be able to teach me a thing or two. B. thinks I may be a better retriever though, or at least I'll force Zada to do a better job with retrieving.

Growing Fast

Wow! Its been a while since my last update. I've been very busy, but had a few rough days during the last few weeks.
A little over two weeks ago, I had a very upset tummy for about 24 hours. Luckily, Dad had taken a vacation day to relax and fish. Needless to say, he spent the day taking care of me and cleaning up after me instead. However, I went to spend the next day with Pappy and I was completely back to my usual self. The bright spot was the rice and burger I got for a day or two instead of my regular dogfood until we were sure I was better. I loved it!

I had my next vet appointment the next week for shots. Mom took a wrong turn on the way and turned a 25 minute car ride into a 45 minute one (on a very windy road). I was looking pretty queasy when we arrived. Good visit. I gained 10 pounds since last visit. I was up to a whopping 31 pounds. Did get carsick on the way home though.

Then, last weekend, my lip swelled up like a balloon. I had to see the vet on Sunday and get a shot plus pills. It took about a day and half after that to get back to normal. However, the bright side again was the rice and burger since it was easier to eat. Still don't know what I did (spider bite? some type of plant? - vet said it seemed to severe for bee sting).

This week, I think I gained another 5 pounds at least. In one week, I went from looking like a puppy, to looking more like a dog (albeit, still a small one). I've been sleeping more at night and doing a little better with housetraining. I am still loveable and so sweet!

Tired....

I'm pretty tired at the moment. I didn't sleep much last night and I started Memorial Day at 5 am full of energy. J took Zoe, Zada and I for a nice long walk through the fields and that helped take the edge off. It was hot so I spent most of the day looking for a cool place to sleep. Then, before supper, J. took Zada and I to the farm to run and play. Zada goes in the water to fetch and just to cool off. I splash at the edge and dunk my whole head under water, but I won't go out and swim just yet... Hopefully I'm tired enough to sleep tonight.

I spent last Monday at Pappy's house. We had a great time hanging out together and I was tired that night which was a great thing. I actually slept all night long.

J. and B. are both pretty sleepy since I get up every two hours to go outside, all night long most nights. They have decided it's because I'm just not tired enough so I see many more fun evenings of walks and swimming in my future.
I am starting to get the hang of the whole house-training thing... finally! We are also starting to work on the "sit" command.

I am certainly growing. I no longer fit in my favorite end table spot so I must be getting bigger.

Week of Firsts...

Rough start to the week. I had my first appointment to meet my new Vet on Monday. J. got home from work to discover that I had a rough day in my cage. You guessed it... I needed another bath!
Then, my crate was like a roller coaster in the car on the way (curvy road) so I got a little carsick. All was well at the Vet, and I weigh a whopping 21 pounds. I was glad to get home that evening!
The rest of the week passed quickly.

One evening this week J. took Zoe, Zada and I to the farm for a little walk. It was great! I got to see my first pheasants. I was too busy trying to follow Zada (who was going crazy tracking them) to really notice, but I did see them. Also, I got to cross my first creek. Zada had a hard time with that creek as a puppy, but I got to watch her splash through it and then later make an amazing leap across it so I wasn't scared to wade into it myself. I didn't try swimming in the ponds yet. I'll save that for another day. I was so amazingly muddy that yes... another bath was absolutely necessary. J. uses baby shampoo because its gentle on my skin so I don't get itchy or dry from all of the baths.

Otherwise, things are pretty normal. I'm still working on house training. I had a rough week, but I had a good weekend. I was only getting up once a night, but for the last few nights, its back to every two hours. We've been working on the "come" command this week and I do well with that, especially when there are treats involved. I've been playing with my sisters and enjoying some early morning walks when we have time. My collar got let out a notch so I must be growing, but I still fit in the end table to sleep.

Another thing I discovered I have in common with Zada is the fact that we are both noisy sleepers. Zada has the loudest dreams, complete with whimpers, barking and legs moving. I am already doing the same thing which is too funny. Must be inherited.

Still Learning...

Well, it has been two weeks in my new home and I'm doing well. I sleep in my crate without complaint, but I still get up a few times to go outside during the night. Also, I don't know the difference between weekday and weekend so 5 am is my wake up time every day!
This morning, we got up, went outside and then J, Zoe, Zada and I all fell back asleep on the living room floor for a few more hours.

I'm still not so sure about the house training thing. I'm making very slow progress, but J and B are buying stock in "Simple Solution" and trying to work with me on it. I'll get it eventually.

My new favorite place to sleep is inside the end table. I'm not sure why I like that spot unless I feel safe there.

Another bath...

Well, B got home today and found me after I made a giant mess in the cage. Yep... you guessed it... another bath for me (and a bath for the giant orange monkey too).

Now, clean smelling and happy again, I'm taking a nap. Keeping up with my sisters is hard work!

I'm getting used to sleeping in my crate. I didn't cry at all last night at bedtime, although I was wide awake and ready to play at 3 am.

First Day Home

Today is my first day home. I got a little carsick in my crate during the ride so I had to get my first bath as soon as I got home. I was pretty gross and very pitfiul looking. J said that was still better than me barking the whole way home- at least I was quiet.

After the bath, I met my sisters, Zoe and Zada. I wasn't at all shy and surprisinglyI think they like me! They haven't been picking on me too much. However, I've already realized that they both like to steal toys from me.
I like to shadow Zada wherever she goes. She doesn't know it but she's my Aunt. My mom is her sister.
I took a little nap in my new crate. It made me cry for about 40 seconds, and then I was so exhaused I just zonked out. Now, I'm having way too much fun playing with Zoe's giant orange monkey even though its bigger than I am.

Overall, great first day and I think I like my new home. I've sniffed every corner and I feel pretty relaxed. Best of all, no accidents (yet).
