Arrival Story:
O.K., now Mom was really done with getting puppies. No more, she said. But seven months later, a patient at the doctor's office where Mom works asked her if she would be willing to take her Chihuahua. The patient could no longer care for her Chi because of medical reasons. Mom thought a moment, swallowed hard and said O.K. Then she called Dad, thinking he'd be mad. Dad said Mom did the right thing. That's how Nani came to us. She was 9 months old at the time and really scared. Now she picks fights with Noel and Peso. She's very vocal, too. She "talks" all the time. Nani weighs four pounds. She was named by A.J. because as he said, "This is our sixth dog and I haven't gotten to name any." A.J. speaks some Japanese. Nani is the first part of a Japanese phrase that means, "What dog is this?" A.J. was a teen-ager at the time. Who knows how their brains work and why he decided on that name. Funny thing is, Mom was trying out all sorts of names by calling the puppy, and the puppy ignored her. But as soon as A.J. said "Nani" she came running. Go figure.
