Arrival Story:
We have a 13 year old Dalmatian (Sammy) that lost his housemate of 10 years, a Golden Retriever mix named Max. We were all sad and felt that our Dalmatian would cheer up if we got him another buddy. I searched online until I saw a similar dog with the cutest smile. We adopted Buddy from Silver Lake Animal Rescue. He was a stray about to be turned over to an experimental lab when he was 9 months old. On Easter day in 2003 Buddy was brought to our house, He got along fine with Sammy right away. Our only problem with Buddy was that he had terrible separation anxiety. We put him in a cage when we left the house. He managed to just about turn the cage over and broke a tooth trying to get out. We tried leaving him out of the cage a little at a time. He did well but just when you thought you could trust him he did about $2,000 in damage in destroying furniture. We then tried putting a muzzle on every time we left. This worked after about 2 months. He is a wonderful dog now.

May 25, 2007, I lost my best friend, Sammy. The last two years he hasn't really played with me, but he was always there to give me company. I will miss you brother.

This year mom didn't spend much time finding the best costume like she did last year. Last year I was one of the 3 Musketters. This year she grabbed the first Halloween costume that she found in the bag of doggie costumes...... a strawberry !
I felt pretty dumb in a strawberry costume . I think after fighting to keep my cape and hat on last year, she wanted to go for something easy. Dad took the top of the storm door out so Sammy (dalmatian) and I could see the kids. I heard all the kids say, "Oh look at the fireman dog" and then they would laugh and say, "Oh look at the strawberry" I did enjoy all the pats on the head but I sure hope mom finds something better for next year that fits my personality more.
