Favorite Food: PEANUT BUTTER

Best Tricks: Bang! and I play dead

Arrival Story: I had a rough beginning, but it worked out because I have a good Mom and Dad here. I even have a Grandma! I don't know where I came from. I was thrown out on a road someplace in a box with my 4 littermates. Lucky for me, some Marines came by and saw the box and one of the puppies who had crawled out of the box and been killed by a car. When they checked it out, they found me and the rest of my litter. One had already died and they took the 3 of us still alive to the vet. Unfortunately, 2 of my littermates died during the night and I was left alone...but not for long! In the morning the Marines came back and took me with them to the barracks!! I had lots of fun with lots of guys to play with. They named me Rowdy...my mom says that was projection, they were the ones that were rowdy. Must be a joke, because she always laughs when she says that. I grew up there with the Marines until it was time for that group of Marines to go to war in Iraq. I am not sure what war is but I do not believe it is a good thing because they could not take me with them. One of the Marines took me home to his family, who were nice, but I did not get to play much. There was a very frail Grandma there and my Marine's mom was afraid I would knock her over. I was less than 2 then, so maybe I would have. His mom asked a friend from Boy Scouts if their family would take me because they had just lost a dog to cancer, I never met Brutus but hear he was a terrific guy. He was a Rotweiler. There was another dog there, named Duke. he looked like the dog from that movie Ol' Yeller. There's a picture of him on my page. SO that is how I came to live with my mom and dad now. They changed my name to Buddy because they said I was the best buddy ever. Dad's son, John, decided on my new name.

Bio: A couple years back, we took Duke for his last trip to the vet. His back legs were paralyzed, and he was is pain. He was a good friend after we got it decided that even though he was older (13), I was bigger and I was boss. So now it is just me and my people. I get to go lots of places in the car, I love going places ...anyplace is fine, but the dog park is best. I love to lay in the sandbox that dad made for Dominic, he is mom and dad's grandson. I love treats and have some cool tricks that my mom taught me. One is if you shoot me, 'Bang!', I play dead just like King in the Sergeant Preston stories.

Forums Motto: What Would Buddy Do? (WWBD)

WWBD: When we were riding out at Point Reyes, my Mom & Dad were talking about how much better the world could be if everyone approached it from the perspective of a Lab. We Labs are famous for how loving and caring we are, not to mention handsome. So they came up with a philosophical principle of 'What Would Buddy Do?' If one was in a situtation, if one thought like a Lab and did what a good Lab would do, kindness and treats would rule. That is my philosophy & I'm stickin' to it.
