Arrival Story:
I had been visiting our local city animal shelter looking for my rat terrier, Gia, that had gone missing (that's a whole other story). I had been going to the shelter everyday for several weeks. I was getting discouraged and starting to become very depressed that I hadn't found Gia. On one of my visits to the shelter I had seen this very calm red min pin. Her card said she was brought to the shelter because the owner surrendered her. No other reason was given. I looked at her and spoke to her. She just seemed disinterested in me, so I kept looking through the other enclosures. A few weeks have gone by, I'm back at the shelter still searching for my dog. The min pin is gone. I was hoping she was still there because when I left the last time I decided to do research on the min pin breed. I had decided if the min pin was there I would adopt her. I was a little heartbroken that she was gone. I did my usual walk through and left. I came back again, this time it was a Saturday. The shelter was only open for a short time. I started my walk through and the first enclosure I see has the min pin in it. I read the card on her enclosure, it stated she was returned because she didn't get along with other dogs. I continued with my walk through. I was still hurting and didn't know if I was ready to take on raising another dog. I left the shelter again without this dog. I had to run errands that day. As I ran my errands I had my wife with me. I asked her if it was a good idea for me to adopt this dog. She said ya know it might help you with this loss you have for Gia. So after a running my errands I decided to go back and get the min pin. Upon arriving at the shelter I discovered they closed at 4pm. I look at my watch, I had 10 minutes. But no one at the shelter would let me in. I even tied calling from the parking lot. I started to panic a little because they are closed on Sunday and Monday. I was especially worried because on Mondays the shelter euthanizes. The shelter does not take calls on Mondays either!!! So I had to wait for the shelter to open Tuesday morning to see if this dog was even alive. When I get there I sign in and immediately had to the enclosures. To my relieved surprise she is still there. I take her card and take it to the counter, paid all the required fees, and I got my min pin. This is the story of how I became Frog's guardian.
