Arrival Story:
I had been looking for a Doberman for a while on Petfinder, but I thought it might help to look at some dogs in person. So my sister and brother-in-law took me to Cobb County Animal Control. We saw Ilsa, but she was very shy and had to be coaxed to the gate. I was skeptical, but the card on her cage said "Super Sweet", so I decided to pull her out and take her to the bonding room. She warmed up to us quickly, but I wasn't ready to take her home, and the pound was closing for the day. They were closed the next day, and during that day I decided to get her. I think I made my decision when I thought of a name for her. My sister and brother-in-law took me back over there, and we adopted her. Her whole demeanor changed as soon as she walked out the door of Animal Control. She started carrying herself with enthusiasm and pride, and when we got her home, she ran around in the yard very happily. As soon as she knew she was free of the pound, she was like a new dog.

Bio:
The vet thinks she has had a litter of puppies. She had been abandoned at a vet's office, who spayed her and turned her in to the pound. The name on her animal control papers was Genesis. I think that it was her exotic dancer name. She has natural ears and a natural tail. And she likes to sleep with her front paw wrapped around her head, as seen in the photo.

Play Date

Had a play date at the old house with Charlie the Golden Retriever. It was fun, but I still wanted to play chase long after he just wanted to stand there and pant. Clearly he needs to have more play dates to get in shape.

Woodsy adventures

Yesterday was great. I got to go with Mom to the Grandparents' house. They live right by some national forest, so Mom took me for a lovely walk in the woods. So many smells! I saw some potential prey in the form of a chipmunk. Unfortunately I had Mom on a leash, so I couldn't leave her alone on the trail to chase it. We walked all through the woods, then went off on this path down a hill. At the bottom of the hill there was a creek, and I got to go wading in the water. There were even little fish swimming around. The cool water felt good, because it was Very Hot yesterday. Then we headed back home. I kind of had to pull Mom up some of the hills because she was running out of steam. But we had a great time. And then I got to go back to the house and cool my belly on their marble floor. That's the best.

Roadtrips are fun

My roadtrip with Mom to Virginia ended up being the most fun ever. OK, well the drive was kind of boring. Mom made me wear a seatbelt, so I slept most of the way. But we did get to stop at lots of rest stops and run around. So I got to smell and explore different states along the way. But the real fun started when we got to Aunt Maggie and Uncle Dave's house in Virginia. I got to meet my cousins Max and Jackson. I was excited to meet them, but they puffed their tails at me and hid. I've been through all that before, so it doesn't bother me. But eventually Max seemed to warm up to me. Mom had brought my bed, so I had my own space to sleep in. We spent the weekend at Arts in the Park. Aunt Maggie and Mr. Smith both had booths, so I got to spend the whole day hanging out with everyone. I met so many people and dogs I can't even count them. One of the nights we went to a friend's house for dinner, and I got to play in the yard with Mike, who is a beagle. He wanted to be more than friends, and I am not that kind of girl, so I had to let him know that in no uncertain terms, but we had fun barking at the neighbors together. Then on another night we got to go to Mr. and Mrs. Smith's house for dinner, and Mrs. Smith let me stay there when all the people ate, even though she hates dogs. So I was on my best behavior. Mom says I was a very good girl on the whole trip, and she even let me sleep next to her on the futon instead of on my dog bed. That was great. Usually I can't do that because that's where Dad is, but Dad didn't come along on this trip. Aunt Maggie and Uncle Dave were so nice to me. I am glad I got to spend time with them. I can't wait until we can visit them again.
