Arrival Story: Rosie's Story:
Well, when I was a pup, I remember wandering in the streets of a place called Montreal. Then, these nice guys came and picked me up! They drove me to a place with LOTS of other doggies! It was so loud and scary! They were barking and crying for someone to choose them! I had NO exercise, so I must have been barking and bouncing off the walls, so I scared people away. Then this lady came in and took me and some other doggies away to a place called Toronto! It was a long and scary ride, and that got me afraid of cars! (But I'm better now!) Anyways, she called another lady named Lorraine to see if I could go to her "rescue", whatever that is. After that, she left me with these nice people named Isabelle and Paul, who cared for me and fed me yummy food! Then, some people came all the way over to see me! They were very nice, and they kept telling me how cute I was, so I gave them lots of kisses and asked for belly rubs! Next thing I know, they come back and take me home! I heard them talking about names, and they decided to give me the name Rosie, because that's what Lorraine called me! But I was a little confused, because Isabelle called me Chanel! But just between you and me, I like Rosie better!
I'm glad these people took me home because now I have kitty friends, a family to play with, and I get lots of treats! I even to a thing called agility, which I LOVE! I hoped you enjoyed my story!

My story:
Poor ol' Rosie was found wandering the streets of Montreal when she was a young pup! She was taken into the local pound. She was due to be euthanized in days, so a nice lady who ran a rescue organization took her and brought her to a rescue in Toronto called "Speaking of Dogs" rescue. I was constantly searching PetFinder in hopes of a new best friend! Then I found my dear Rosalie! It was love at first sight! I immediately filled out an application and sent it in! My family and I went to the meet and greet and knew she was our dog. We waited in agony for the results of the applications! Finally, the head of the rescue, Lorraine, notified us to tell us that she was ours! It was meant to be! She brings so much joy and sunshine into our lives!

Bio: Rose is CRAZY! She's just so full of energy! She is such a good girl. She came to us with no training, except for sit in french! She was such a dog, jumping up on people, peeing on the floor, pulling my arm out of it's socket on walks, bolting out the door! I say she was such a dog because I don't want to say she was bad, because she wasn't! This behaviour is only natural to dogs!
She's VERY disobedient though, won't listen to a thing I say. She does what she wants, when she wants. She is definitely the hardest dog to train I've ever met.
But shes very sweet, and her pictures don't do her justice! Shes MUCH prettier in dog! Have a tail waggin day!

Favorite Places to go:: The dog park, the doggie store, anywhere with my mom, the car, out on runs, and to the park!
What I like to do:: Chase cats, play with Amigo, go on walks, run free, chase birds, chase squirrels, not listen to mom, run away from mom (cause that's really fun!), jump on mom while she's reading the paper, run inside with muddy feet, sometimes I like to cuddle, but most the time I'm too busy for that! Hello everypup! I would just like to make an entry about BSL.
What is BSL?
BSL stands for Breed Specific Legislation. Breed-specific legislation (BSL) bans or restricts certain types of dogs based on their appearance because they are perceived as "dangerous" breeds or types of dogs.
A breed ban usually requires that all dogs of a certain appearance ("targeted breed") be removed from the area wherein the BSL has been implemented.
Breed-specific restrictions may require an owner of a targeted breed do any of the following or more, depending on how the law is written:
Muzzle the dog in public
Spay or neuter the dog
Contain the dog in a kennel with specific requirements (6′ chain link walls, lid, concrete floors, etc.)
Keep the dog on a leash of specific length or material
Purchase liability insurance of a certain amount
Place “vicious dog” signs on the outside of the residence where the dog lives
Make the dog wear a “vicious dog” tag or other identifying marker
Breed-specific legislation applies only to dogs of a certain appearance, not to any and all dogs. It does not take into account how the owner has raised, trained, or managed the dog. It does not take into account the dog’s actual behavior.
What are the main breeds targeted?
The breed that are targeted by BSL include:
Rottweiler, Doberman Pinscher, Bull Terrier, Alaskan Malamute, Akita, American Bull Dog, Belgian Malinois, Boerboel, Cane Corso, Chow Chow, Dogo Argentino, English Mastiff, German Shepherd, Great Dane, Irish Wolfhound, Mastiffs, Presa Canario, Scottish Deerhounds, Shar pei, Siberian Husky, Tosa Inu, Border Collie and many more. In Benld, Illinois, BSL targets ALL dog over 15 pounds.
But, Pit Bulls deserve to be targeted, they bite people, right?
No. Well, some do, but all breeds bite. Pit Bulls are one of the best dogs around! They are loyal, affectionate, playful and caring! If you don't believe me, here are the ACK temperament test results:
American Cocker Spaniel: 81.9%
Beagle: 81.0%
Weimaraner: 80.2%
Toy Poodle: 82.4%
Papillion: 79.3%
American Pit Bull Terrier: 85.3%
See?
Okay, if there is proof, how come they are banned?
Because people are ignorant. When ever there is a dog attack, they immediately label it as Pit Bull attack.

What can I do?
You can speak up. Educate those who don't know how wonderful these dogs really are. Because this is injustice. We can fight it together. We fought slavery, we fought hard and we won. We fought racism.

No, we may not have won all of these, but we greatly improved it, and we can do the same for BSL.
So what if it's not YOUR breed. It's only 75 breeds in counting. YOURS could NEVER be on that list... right?

I just wanted to post a wonderful video of this. I originally had two, but the first one made me very sad, so I took it down. Here's the video. You may cry:

The scents we were passing were all new to me,

But when I turned to bring it back I saw a sight quite frightening.
I gripped my toy hard as I tried to comprehend
What it was I did wrong to make our relationship end.
You walked back to your car as I sat there still loyal.
Why am I subservient and you so royal?
Your engine started, and you peeled out into the night,
You didn't even care about my overwhelming fright.
As I sat in my pose determined you would come back,
The sun faded behind me while the surroundings turned black.
Day after day I stayed in that park,
Lying... waiting... too feeble to bark.
As I lay there dying thinking of you master,
I asked myself how I got into this horrifying disaster.
With my last breath of life, I whispered your name

I guess taking care of me was just too much to do.

But what I can't figure out is why you didn't even say goodbye...
