When she was about 3 and a half years old she was found as a stray near Columbia, South Carolina by a kind soul, who took her home.
The woman already had several dogs and was unable to keep her so she turned Molly over to a Chesapeake Bay Retriever rescue group. My boss's wife was looking for a Chessie and found Molly on the internet. She thought Molly was the prettiest dog she'd ever seen so she drove up to South Carolina and picked her up. However, it turned out that Molly is a runner and she ran away five times in the 4 and a half months they had her, each time they managed to get her back. Since they were in the process of building a new house on a large tract of wooded land in a rural area they feared if Molly got away from them there they may never find her. They decided it was best to give her up before they became too attached to her. My boss knew I had been looking for a dog for some time and asked if I would like to take her. He didn't want to turn Molly over to a shelter and he knew I'd provide her with a good home. Having seen Molly a couple of times and thinking "I'd love to find a sweet, friendly dog like Molly" I didn't hesitate to say "YES"!
