Arrival Story:
My daughter and I were at the pet store, getting some supplies, and I noticed the most adorable puppy. I know it's a bad thing to do -- getting a dog from a pet store -- but I really couldn't resist. She was so cute that she could have easily passed for a stuffed animal. So, we took her with us and went straight to my mother's house. Sure enough, my mom fell head over heels in love with her. It had been years since my mom had had a dog, and Abby showed up at the right time and had the right personality and the right energy for my mom. And man, oh man, my mom fell for her HARD. Abby was the runt of her litter, so she always looked about a year old or so. Absolutely adorable!! She'd never win any medals in the show ring, but she was precious. Then, in 2003 my mom moved in with us and we got Abby full time. Everyone who met her loved her. She could just bound into a room (she never just walked in) and people would laugh. I think she knew it too!!

Bio:
She had a strong personality, very independent, never really wanted anybody's opinions LOL. She didn't always do what she was told. But she was SO darn cute, and she KNEW it and she knew how to work that cuteness. Ohhhh she was so funny. She actually had a sense of humor, I swear! But the one thing that was shocking was her bark. There she was, this cute little stuffed animal, and a tiny little Bassett... but when she would bark, holy cow!! LOL Sadly, she never learned to bay because she was probably taken from her mom when she was too young. Not shocking when you know she came from a pet store. Sigh. At the age of 9, we finally had to say goodbye to her due to severe ocular cancer that had spread to her brain. Sweet Abby was incredibly cute, very stubborn, super funny, and way too smart. Interesting side note: Jed fell in love with her too. He thought she was the bomb! He followed her around everywhere and she kept him in his place LOL. They made the cutest pair! We miss her terribly. We miss her soft fur, her adorable eyes, her big, sloppy kisses, and her comic relief. I honestly don't think we could ever have another Bassett. We just see pictures of Bassetts and get sad.
