Arrival Story:
Sarah was found on Friday March 27, 2009 by the side of a county road in rural Texas. She had been badly beaten, and starved to add insult to injury she had baling twine tied around her neck from which she nearly strangled. As her Mama came up the road, her little head popped up in the grass alongside the road, causing Mama to slam on the brakes and go untangle her baling twine from the sticks she was hanging from. Mama loaded her into the car with her big brother Bubba, who started to teach her that not all humans are evil. Sarah has now been to the Vet, gotten her first round of puppy shots, been dewormed (twice-thanks to a heavy parasitic burden), and has been placed on antibiotics and NSAIDs for her leg injury. She will be seeing an Orthopedic Specialist next week to determine if there is tendon/ligament damage that will require surgery.

Bio:
Sarah is learning to play, and to seek loving from her people for the first time in her life. She has been to Petsmart for the first time, and really had a good time. She loves her big Brother Bubba, and is learning how to be a puppy from her sister Dahlia and her other brother Brownie. She is very gentle with her kitty sister Mia, and her Chi cousins.

I am up late, waiting for it to be time for Mommy to give me my clavimox. Mommy yawbs a lot when it's almost time for my medicine. It's a yucky medicine. Every time Mommy puts it in my mouth I try to outwit her and spit it out. She says that won't happen though, something about her being bigger and having opposabile thumbs, but I still have to try. I don't like the yucky pills, but I do like the way my leg is not all swelled up anymore. The bad people who had me before Mommy found me hurt it, and Mommy says I have to take the pills to make it better. I like my Rimadyl better, but Mommy only gives that to me when she can see that I am limping bad again, she says she is worried about giving it to a Labradr, and that she is trying to prevent me from becoming dependant on it. I like how I feel since the Doctor and Mommy started giving me the pills though. I can run again, even if I limp, and play with my cousins. Today my mommy got me something I had never had before...she calles them TOYS! It took me awhile to figure out they were really mine, but now that I have them, I like them. I like my new squeeky bear and my chewy rope the best. Mommy says when I feel better she thinks I will like the ball better, I'm not so sure about that ball thing though. When I touch it with my nose....it MOVES. I think it's a little bit scary.
I also really like to "borrow" my Chi cousins doggy beds. Momma says she would get me one like theirs but soon I will be way too big for it, so she is going to look on the computer and find me one to grow into. I'm going to let her do that now, while I go chew my rope. I think this toys thing is probably a good idea.
