I’ve been to a few dog beaches since my original Gotcha day. I remember the furst one, the Santa Cruz dog beach. Think it was sometime in February 2009, so I was about 7 months old.
I could tell right away this was a pretty cool place. There were lotsa dogs and they were all playing or running or fetching or just having some other dog good time! My folks brought along a frisbee & a ball fur me. I was having a good time fetchin’ when another dog came along and took my frisbee. That’s fine with me I like to chase too! I thought we would play frisbee tug until that dog turned around and GROWLED at me! Real mean, too! I don’t mess with dogs like that. He can have my frisbee. But his dad showed up with his frisbee and once he had his own he let me have mine back. But I did NOT want to play with that mean dog anymore!
Anywoof, it was a cold day and my furst time seeing the big water. Mom told Dad not to make me get wet. “OK”, Dad said. But the ball he was throwin’ fur me got closer and closer to the water each time. Until, “UH OH!”, Mom was watchin’ her little black puppy’s feet rolling upside down inside a wave. Both Mom and Dad watched with bated breath to see if I would survive or was I going to get swept out to sea!? Mom says if I got swept out to sea Dad would be swimmin’ out there to rescue me! Dad says he feels lucky to be alive after that incident! He thought Mom was going to KILL him! She thought he ruined the ocean fur me furever! I thought it was fun. I still love the ocean, didn’t get traumatized one bit. BOL!

HAHAHA!! You love you some water, don't you? I've nevfur been to Santa Cruz, because they told mommy and daddy that doggies aren't allowed on the beach there? I'm glad you didn't let that mean dog spoil it fur you! And I'm glad your mommy didn't have to kill your daddy! :0
Condogulations on DDP!
I WUFF my doggie beach, bud I du NOD wike ged wet!!
I haven't ever seen any ocean beach, but it sounds like a fun thing...it must be in your bones (BOL) to love water...you must have thought that the wave was playing a new rough game with you!
My first dog park experience was when I had just finished all my puppy shots...about 4 months old, but it was just a huge peeps park where the fence was high and the peeps kept the gates closed...from about 6am til 8 am...before the nondoggy visitors would come. But I loved it.And boy did I run! Chasing and being chased!
Enjoy your day!
I SO miss the SEA!!!!!!!!!
Glad you had a wondeful memory !
Congratulations on being a featured diary of the day Pepper. You rock! *DAX and SLY*
Wags to everyfur! Thanks fur all the kind words.
Hershey, I don't know how long ago you were told doggies aren't allowed on the beach in Santa Cruz. They are now, at least in a specific area on the westside along West Cliff Drive. In fact, it is the only doggy beach we have seen with an official sign saying it is ok for dogs to be off leash during specific times of the day (early in the morning and again later in the afternoon). Btw, I'm glad mommy didn't kill daddy over me too!
Zaidie, what the heck are you barking about?! What about all your fun in your way kewl pool?
That's good to hear, Pepper!! But...why only early in the morning and late in the afternoon? San Diego does that, too. Do they think doggies only poop in the middle of the day? BOL!!
Pepper, I jump in, bob fur ice cubes an' ged out!! No need tu ged wet duin' dat!! BOLBOLBOL!!
Hershey, I thinks maybe the scaredy cat peoples are at the beach in the middle of the day? Or maybe peoples are eating their lunch and the doggies will run up and takes their foods? Who knows how these humans come up with their silly rules!
Ok, Zaidie, I thought you swam around in there. Isn't that what way kewl pools are for?
I 've been to the beach in Malibu, California. It's the only one in LA county that allows pups... and when we were there, we saw 3 other Westies!! It was LWD day!!
Yep, I used to go Leo Carrillo State Beach in Malibu. It was FUN!!
