Arrival Story:
Abby Baby came into our life at church...A friend who knew that we loved dogs cornered me in the lobby and asked if I would be interested in adopting their 6 month old female yellow lab. Apparently, Abby was completely out-of-control and her owner had no idea what to do other than find a good home for her. I didn't hesitate! Before asking my husband, I said YES! At the time, we had one dog, Duke. We live on a ten acre lot that we share with our folks. A large pond (Labrador Lake) separates our two houses. Another Lab - no problem! Abby and Duke became fast friends, and both my husband and I fell head-over-heels in love with our new girl. Little did we know, she was just on loan for a very short time.

Abby Baby died in April of 2004. My parents, my husband, and I tried our best to save our little girl after she came down with a blood illness. We tried two blood transfusions, and we thought the last one might work. The vet even let Abby Baby come home. She had two days at her home before she passed on. She was never alone during that time. Abby Girl was such a perfect friend...she wouldn't even leave until I told her it was okay to let go. I held her as she struggled to hang on through her pain. I felt her love and I know she felt mine. I told her that she was the best dog anyone could ever have, and she never did anything wrong. We would love her forever, and that it was okay to move on without us, because we would see her again someday. With that, she took one last breath and her heart stopped...and mine broke into a million pieces. Abby Baby lives on in my heart, and I will never forget her. She is Maddie's Angel, and I can see Abby in Maddie's eyes sometimes. Dogs give us so much...Someone once wrote, "Dogs do not live nearly long enough; and, as far as I can tell, that is their only fault." I concur. My husband wrote an e-mail and sent it to our friends the day after Little Abby Baby passed on. He finished the letter with this: "Today, God got a really, really good dog." I love you, Abby baby!

Angel of the Week, May 24th - May 30th

Wow, this is the coolest honor, and I feel so lucky. I am Angel of the Week! I do not feel worthy, to tell you the truth. I have been up here for a long time, but I have been sort of out of touch. My mummy is still sad so I always feel like I need to be close to her. But, my Angel friends have taught me that love never dies and that my mummy needs to know that I am a-ok and having fun. So, that is what I did best on planet earth (have fun!) and that is what I am doing best of here, with all of you! There is a Hebrew word, Mizpah. It means that God watches over loved ones when we are apart. I changed it to “Mizpaw” for all of us! God loves his furry creatures too, and he knows how special we are to our human families. So, remember MIZPAW, my Angel Friends! God is watching over your loved ones and over us….so, if there are any Angels out there that are in hiding…like I was for a few years, you remember, your family wants to know you are happy and having fun! So, come fly with us! And remember MIZPAW!

Thank-you for being my friend! Life is GOOD UP HERE! Whooohooooo!

Abby Baby...We still love and miss you. I know you are out there. And I know you are Maddie Girl's Angel. But, wow...we sure do miss you! Love never dies, so you are still there because you were all love. Never met an enemy, did you Baby? Well, tell God "hi" and give Him a big sloppy kiss. Know that your daddy and mum miss you very much. Happy Easter, Abby Baby! Take care of Raven, okay!
