Leave a bone for Aster Nicknames: Aster Kay Birthday: October 14th 1993 Arrival Story: We were given Aster to foster for a dog guide school. We had met the people that had her mother a few months before and become friends. They live about an hours drive away. The first year we saw a lot of them and others raising puppies out of the litter.
Aster went away to school and was partnered with a lady living in our county. We quickly became friends. It is quite rare for the family with the dog guide's mother, the family that raised it, and the dog's partner to live in the same area and be friends. Aster worked as a dog guide until she was 10 years old. When she retired, she came back to live with us. We are still friends with her old partner and sometimes sit her current dog when needed.
We treasure the 5 years of her retirement. We could take her to the river and let her run loose or have a swim. At 15, arthritis and cancer eventually kept her from going for a walk and even eating. It was time. Her old partner met us at the vet's. She is buried out front in a little patch of woods. Bio: Yellow Lab. We also raised a male with the same father, and another one out of her younger half sister's first litter.
