Arrival Story:
After my 15 year old best friend and constant companion "SHADOW" went to his forever home, I decided to adopt Tucker from a rescue out in Cochealla Valley. My little girl Rattie-Dahlia and I made the two and a half hour drive out to Chochealla(which is past Indio and Palms Springs). Tucker was being housed at a rescue-where someone who loved her cats very much had passed away and given her house to the rescue. He was in the house with 19 other little doggies. Being a rattie Mom, I spotted him in his cage when we got there. The volunteers let him out and he wanted to bite Dahlia-my poor sweet angel female rattie. We took him out to the backyard and he did not want to have anything to do with us. I fell in love with his presendential ears and adopted him anyway. When we got home-me in my infinite wisdom-decided that Dahlia and Tucker should meet in a nuetral territory. So, I parked in front of my house.I brought Dahlia down from the car and tell her to sit. Then I got Tucker's crate out.The minute I opened his crate, the stinker that he is-he took off. I ran after him after putting Dahlia on her leash. The more I ran after him-the more he ran away from me. Then lo and behold a car comes. I frantically wave at the car, begging them to SLOW DOWN. I then figured out that there is no way, I could ever catch this dog. I had to wave the car down and ask them to help. Tucker in the mean time is running, weaving from one side of the street to the other. The girls in the car said they would help me. They drove after him slowly, then they tried to have him come to them. Luckily, their car door was open-he jumped in the car and that is how we caught him. This was how our first day went. It took Tucker no more than 2 days to figure out that I am his new Mommy and to figure out the lay of land for his new home.
