Gotcha Date: February 5th 2009 Birthday: November 1st 2008 Likes: playing and running. She is built for speed. Pet-Peeves: being crated, gated or locked out ,moving objects, being startled Favorite Toy: any rope toy Favorite Food: seems to be everything that's not nailed down :) Favorite Walk: any walk is a favorite walk. Best Tricks: getting Mommy to smile by being naughty and nice at the same time Arrival Story: Shelby came to us through a private adopter from Tennessee. She was found by a young lady who, in turn, contacted Aussie Rescue. The Rep for that area remembered us from a prior adoption process, which did not work out & contacted us asking if we were interested in a lethal white puppy. In her short lifetime, she has had 4 additional homes before finding her forever home with us. Bio: Shelby is what is referred to as " Lethal White" Aussie. She is also deaf but to her it is not a handicap. She is curious about everything, into everything, keeping Mommy on her toes :)
She is such an innocent and even though she can get into trouble, it's hard to stay mad at her. She is on the needy side and insecure so we give her a bit more one on one time and attention. In time we know she will settle down .
UPDATE 6/2012: Shelby is now with us 3 years & is quite the handful. Very nervous on the street and anxious. She has many triggers: mostly moving objects are the main triggers. Because she is deaf and unable to hear herself, she screams & screeches, not barks and it is very unsettling and startles many people. We are working with her on this with behavior modification & positive rewards. It is not easy. She would not do well in the average home. Because of my background in the Humane field, I have the skills and knowledge to cope with her.
But we lover her dearly. The Groups I'm In: Australian Shepherd's that are deaf and blind. I've Been On Dogster Since:
