Arrival Story:
Dixie was owned by a man who kept her in a kennel for three years next to her friend Hank. Dixie and Hank were never let out to play together and didn't get much human attention. They weren't given any veterinarian care except for rabies shots given by a mobile horse doctor. Jon and I were not looking for a dog when we heard that Dixie and Hank needed homes. We felt we could only take one and Dixie wasn't mean to cats, so we brought her home. Luckily, despite lack of vet care, she had nothing more than a few intestinal parasites that her new heartworm preventative pill could cure. We heard a couple of weeks later that Hank would be put to sleep if he didn't find a home, so of course we went back to get him. We now have a circus made of two dogs and three cats!!!
Bio:
Dixie is a purebred Red Heeler, or Australian Cattle Dog. It is the same as a Blue Heeler except that the coat is red. She bears all the distinct markings of a true heeler, although her first owner never got papers from the breeder. Hank bears a "Variation" coat and is called a "masked" heeler because his whole face is white.

Well, I've come a long way! Hank nolonger tackles me when I pee, and I have learned to play in my backyard! We have two balls so that Hank doesn't steal mine. I do have one new bad habit of digging tiny holes all over the yard, mom's not sure how to stop that one so if anyone out there has suggestions... anyways, I am happy being an indoor outdoor dog, leaning more on the outdoor now that mom works nights and is home all day! My favorite treat is still a good old milk bone, and an occasional lick from an icecream sandwich. Loving life as long as I get my excersise. Until next time, gotta go play!
