Arrival Story:
Morton lived at the shelter with his bro Marvin. Marvin got a home and Morton was lonely. He went out to 3 homes and was returned each time. I felt sorry for him so I took him home - only to figure out (in the first 1/2 hour or so) that he is DEAF. He doesn't like my big male Merlin so we are careful. He does ok with the girls, but you can't sneak up on him - he'll startle and maybe bite. But it's ok - we love him and just work around that. He understands hand signals and is really smart!

Mort is very cautious with new people and other dogs because of his deafness. That and he thinks he is Mr. Big Pants. Weird Morty left us in Oct. of 2010. He just was a little old fella who wore out...he was a learning experience and the most important thing is that NEVER say you can't handle a disabled dog, because you can. Morty handled his hearing impairment like a trooper and taught us all that things *will* be ok if you let them be.

that puppy girl is still here - but since I can't hear all the noise she makes, I guess it's ok. We see each other thru the gates and we are wagging our tails at each other now, she's about my size and she just might be fun to play with - she's zippy like I am and I know she gets excited when I'm zooming around, so maybe someday...right now I'm happy with my routine and as long as it stays on track all is right with my little world.

well it's OK - I guess

yanno I am special - I am SO special that I don't think there's room anywhere else in the house for anybody but me...but these PEOPLE I live with insisted on adding another dog (ooooH la LAA - a girl dog) to this house and I just don't know...she's young and wiggly and needs to learn how not to insult me with her silly puppiness. So we are still in the "get to know you" phase...she just has to remember not to sneak up on me, because I can't hear much - once she remembers that I MIGHT consider playing with her...
