Arrival Story:
I'd been looking for a companion for Buck for a while and when there was a distinct lack of cattle dogs to rescue up here in Alaska, I started looking for a match with some cattle dog rescues that I knew folks in down in the lower 48. One of the ladies found what seemed to be a good match (Buck's age, submissive like Buck, didn't chase cats, good temperament, etc) and evaluated her for me. She was a shelter dog that a cattle dog owner at the shelter had fallen in love with but didn't have room for herself. They shipped her up here a week before Thanksgiving 2008 and she and Buck became instant best friends.

Bio:
Looking at Scout, you can tell there's something other than cattle dog in her. Judging from the shape of her head, body, and the fact that she's always got her nose on the ground, I suspect she has some Catahoula in her. She's definitely cattle doggy, too, as you can tell from her red speckle coat. Doesn't seem to have a ton of herding drive, but she'll help Buck herd dogs at the dog park. LOL! We'll see this Spring if she's going to show any interest in sheep. I'm fine with her just being Buck's playmate, though. We may try agility next winter, too- she's super fast and pretty athletic, so I think she could be good at it.
