Jolly Ball

He hasn't disliked anything so far!

Favorite Walk:
We walk over an hour every day. No place special...

Best Tricks:
He is the funniest dog we've ever had. I laugh all the time at him. No really "special" tricks yet.

Arrival Story:
We had a wonderful Labrador before Gunner. We were heartbroken when that dog was diagnosed with stomach cancer and had to be put to sleep. I cried every night for several weeks. During that time I went online and found a breeder with whom I chatted. One of her dogs just had pups a week before our precious dog had died. She understood that my husband wasn't ready for another dog. As she put it, men feel they are betraying that special dog and women need a dog to nuture and love. She hit the nail on the head! I showed my husband the site because the breeder was so good about updating the site with new pictures of the puppies each week. About a 2 or 3 weeks before Christmas my husband and I had gone shopping and on the way home, he took a different route. It didn't surprise me as he often does that. It was a beautiful day and I was enjoying the ride. He turned back this road and then onto a lane back to a farmhouse and buildings. When we pulled behind the house, I saw a pen with puppies. I got out of the car, the breeder greeted us, and I burst into tears in her arms. Without my knowledge, my husband had found the bookmark of the breeder on my computer (a great effort because he is not the most computer savvy person), called her, and had set up an appointment to see the puppies! That day I picked out little Gunner or should I say he picked me by chewing on my shoes and not leaving me alone. We had to wait to get Gunner until Dec. 26, but I got to follow his progress online and even visit once after that (the breeder encouraged it). My husband gave me the greatest Christmas present even though his heart wasn't quite ready for another special man!
