Arrival Story: Ludo flew to us from his breeder out in Abingdon Illinois. We got him when he was a little puff ball, at 7 weeks old.
Bio: Ludo has an awesome personality. He loves other dogs, strangers, family members, small children, you name it! He has a brand new baby sister, Luna from the same breeder. He's a beautiful dark red color, with white markings. He is very smart, and very strong. We weighed him a week ago, and he's 102 lbs. Ludo was diagnosed with Hip Dysplasia almost 2 months ago, and since has had FHO surgery to fix his right hip. Despite our worries, he's been recovering gracefully, and will live a normal life, with a goofy walk! He is a wonderful dog, and he's helped us realize our passion for malamutes.

I've Been On Dogster Since:
Hey everyone! About two weeks ago, I had FHO surgery done on my sore hip, and it went PERFECT! I'm in rehab now, and have been using my leg like nothing ever happened. Momma and daddy take me for walks 2 times a day, and I don't get sore during them or anything! The muscle in my right hip, the bad one, is building, and the Doctor who performed my surgery said I'm "doing better than most dogs who undergo this procedure"! I had my staples removed Monday, and the fur is starting to come back in where they shaved my leg.
Even better?! I'm getting my sissy Luna in a week!! She's growing so fast... my momma shows me her pictures each week from our breeder, and she's going to give me a run for my money!
Compared to how life was looking last month, things are going wonderful! I have 2 new toys, a healing hip, and a new sissy on the way! I'm a lucky lucky boy!!!
A few days ago, I found out that I have Canine Hip Dysplasia. I'm not even 11months old yet. My momma and daddy took me to a specialist near home, and the outlook is not a very comforting one. The surgery we were hoping to have done, will not work on me. I'm a big boy, about 105 lbs. There is another surgery option that can be performed... the surgeon would cut my bone, and the bone would join to the connective tissue between my hip socket. I'll always walk with a limp. The chances of my recovery going well are a little sketchy though, because I don't have a lot of muscle in my hind legs, where the rehab would need to take place. My parents have a lot to talk about for our options, and we're hoping to hear back from the Cornell Animal Hospital. I know my momma is hurting, and daddy is terrified of making this decision. I hope we can all be strong together.
If anyone has any hope to send our way, or possibly advice, we need it.
Hey everyone...
So I found out today that my hips are in bad shape. My right side didn't develope right, and my joints aren't connected to my hip bone. The vet said I need surgery... so in a few days me and momma and daddy are going to a specialist who will figure out what needs to be done. They're thinking the bone needs to be filed down so that it'll match up to my hip joint better, after a while join with the connective tissue.
I've been pretty sore for a few days, but tonight, Daddy gave me some pain killers, and by the time momma got home from work, I could greet her at the door! She was really upset to see me this sore.
Cross your paws that I can have my surgery soon, and heal successfully... and be healthy in time for my possible sister. She's not born yet, but her mommy is due any day. If all goes well, I'll be a big brother, with a healing hip by the end of May!
Talk to everyone soon!!
