Arrival Story:
Munchkin was given to us by our handyman. He lives in my parent's neighborhood and had Munchkin along with three Jack Russells- the mom and her 2 children, a boy and a girl. The boy Jack Russell got her sister pregnant, so our handyman and his wife now had 3 Jack Russells, and 6 puppies along with Munchkin. With as much energy as the Jack Russells have, they felt like Munchkin was getting lost in the group, not enough attention, so they wanted to find a good home for her. We agreed to take her since our dogs don't have as much energy.

Bio:
My family grew up with Dachshunds, so we are looking forward to many happy years with this one. We have also found out that Munchkin loves to lick feet.

I'm back home with my family now!

Well, I'm finally back home with my family. I came home last week, and I am so happy! I missed my family so much while I was away. As promised, I am able to keep one of my babies. She is a sweetheart! My humans named her Abigail Nutmeg, and she has her own dogster page now!

All of my babies are 7 weeks now- they will be 8 weeks on Saturday! I don't know if I will be able to see the other three anymore, so I'm glad I have little Abigail with me. She is a lot of fun and loves to play with me!

This has truly been a wonderful experience for me. However, my humans say that I am not going to have any more babies. They are going to get me spayed in the near future. They say getting me spayed will help control the pet population.

My puppies are now 4 weeks old

Wow how time flies! My puppies are now 4 weeks old, and will be 5 weeks old on Saturday, May 30! My little guys are doing great! They all opened their eyes at 2 weeks old- right on schedule!

Now, at 4 weeks, they are becoming very active, playing with each other and starting to walk around. They are also starting to eat solid food, so I am not nursing them as much now. Those little guys have some sharp teeth!

They are all very playful, and I am having a great time being a mother to them. Their daddy, a Jack Russell named Petey also helps me out with them. When I need to go outside, he will often check in on them to make sure they are safe. He also helps me keep them clean. Their grandma and aunt also help, so as you can see, I always have someone looking out for my babies!

From what I understand, I will only be allowed to keep one of my puppies. The other three will have to find new homes. I am sad because I won't be able to keep all of them, so I will enjoy the time I have left with them before they have to go.

Wags and Licks,
Munchkin

My Babies turn 1 week old!

Wow! I get on the computer today, and I was chosen diary of the day! What an honor! Thank you so much! I am glad that everyone is enjoying the updates on my babies and looking at their pictures.

I will post an update each week and add new pictures so you guys can see how they are growing.

Tomorrow morning 5/2/09, my little ones will officially be 1 week old. They are growing and getting bigger every day! And boy can they nurse!

That's what I spend most of my time doing right now- nursing them. The only times I am leaving them is to eat and drink, and go potty. And I have that routine down too. After about 5 minutes of being outside, I am ready to get back in to them.

My humans tell me that I am very protective of my babies. I won't let any other dog or animal get near me or my babies while I am with them. I even growled at my daddy yesterday when he came to see how I was doing.

Mom says that as they get older and start nursing less and playing more that I will lighten up. But I don't know. They are MY babies, and they need me to protect them.

P.S. Thank dog they don't have any teeth yet!
