Arrival Story:
We received him just before his 5th birthday. We had been on a breeder's waiting list after we had to say goodbye to our first Bernese, Nimrod (5 years old)after he was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer. She urgently needed to find a good home for her stud dog after an imported new comer from Switzerland would not stand for another male in the pack.

Bio:
Pancho had a lot of adjusting to do when he came to us. Firstly as a stud dog he lived outdoors with his female friends and he only understood French. We spoke Afrikaans and had no other pet dogs at the time and he was more than welcome in the house. After a short adjustment time he became my shadow, learnt the language and preferred indoors and they say you can't teach old dogs new tricks! Unfortunately I think the stress of changing home at such an old age and personal illness in our home eventually caught up with him. Shortly after aquiring Bilbo + Freya at the age of 7 his liver and pancreas gave in and after we managed to stabilize that rheumatism hit. Medication affected his liver and therefor we could not give him anything for the pain. We were forced to make the most difficult decission animal owners are faced with - euthanasia. He is dearly missed but we know he has no more pain now.
