Arrival Story: A friend of ours with the Sheriff's Dept. told us about a litter of GSD pups. The breeder was a first time breeder and had mated her female with a Sheriff's Dept. K-9. The puppies were gorgeous. We fell in love with a little guy with almost perfect ears at 9 weeks. His breeder was very nice and allowed his mother to meet us and see him leave with us.
Bio: Although he wasn't ever abused he was always skiddish around kids and generally jumpy. He wasn't friendly toward people outside the family although he was wonderful to us. When he was 2 years old we were at a specialty Vet consultation for our 11 year old Basenji and they noticed lumps on his neck and chest. He was later diagnosed with Lymphoma and underwent traditional chemo, which he hated. Vets made him tremble. After two courses of the treatment, the Oncologists cut us loose and told us there was nothing they could do. We found a Holistic Vet specializing in cancer, but unfortunately it was too late and he died a week later. He was very active at home almost like he knew he had limited time and was trying to get as much fun in his life as possible. He and Astarte died 13 days apart.
