Arrival Story:
Update 09/01/09: We were fortunate to be the ones to get to adopt this wonderful dog. We have had Jake since 08/17/09 and now have had some time to get to know him a little. He has adjusted very well, though we know he must miss his past family a lot. He has a wonderful spirit and temperament. He is only 7 months and entering the terrible teen stage over the next several months, but we are not concerned at all. He takes direction very well, is quite correctable, and has a strong desire to please. Pushing to be center of attention at times, yes - a light jump or paw when he is first excited to see someone, sure - but those will be very workable things with Jake. He is great with our kids and the seemingly 100's of dogs we have been around! We have been out and about quite a bit with Jake and his housemate Frenchie Courtney. Daily trips to the dog park, walks by the lake, and a trip to the beach last weekend. He had a blast at the coast along with Courtney - they ran and ran and Jake got neck deep in the water in no time, as we assumed he would, when we were running around the shallow bay inlet. I think he tripped-out the first time he bounded into the deeper water because I bet his paws sank in a couple inches - he paused for a moment looking stuck for a second and then bounded back to shore. Can't wait for our next trip. He is showing us signs he has a little more growing to do. He still has a good size point on his crown and his shoulders/chest still look like they will fill out a bit more. He is 30lbs and I suspect he'll get to maybe 33-37 lbs as his regular weight. More updates to come.... :D
