Arrival Story: I was looking for a companion for Ben and I's Springer Spaniel, and found this lovely pooch up for adoption by Stef! We met, talked a LONG time about it, and decided to have them meet. Now they are best buds and Callie is a wonderful addition to our family. Bio: Callie's life with Stef:
"Callie was born in July 2008 and her litter was dropped off at a shelter. They were all adopted out, but the family that had her had to move to an apartment that didn't allow dogs. They surrendered her back to the shelter; my husband said she was the only one not barking and running around when he went to look. She is SO sweet and is trained and so quiet. About a week after we brought her home, we noticed she walked with a limp - we thought maybe Shula roughed her up too much. The vet said it looks like an old break that hadn't been set right, but that it wouldn't be worth re-breaking to fix. It doesn't slow her down any! She enjoys walking, chewing on bones, playing in water, and following Shula around!"
Callie's life since being in her new home:

Well, all, I have some news - it's a little good and a little sad. Ma and Dad found me a new home. Now, before everyone gets all upset, please don't be!! Ma set out to find me the best home possible, and she really did. I am staying at my new house at the moment - Ma got a "24 Hour Update" tonight and I am doing great! I live with a two-year-old Springer Spaniel named Olie, a kitteh, some birds, and a mom and dad. I live WAY out in the woods where there are no neighbors or trucks or trailers or four wheelers or snowmobiles to make me nervous.
The main point is that my new people are home a LOT, so I won't have to be in my kennel much. Ma said it wasn't fair that I was so anxious when her and Dad left that I had to be kenneled all the time. She felt so guilty every time she left the house. I just need more attention than her and Dad can give right now.
Anyway, so far things are going great and I am LOVING it out here - I have someone my size to play with, I get two walks a day, and I love snuggling on the couch! It sounds like my new mom might wanna get involved on Dogster, too, so I might still get to come play!! We will keep everyfur updated and try to get some new pictures up. (Ma was going to take some of Olie and I when we met, but it was too dark.) I LOVE YOU ALL!!
Maybe it's the snow, maybe the night air, but I was bazonkers after Ma let me in the house after my bedtime business! I was zooming like crazy and jumped on top of Shula where she was resting on the couch. (She didn't like that much.)
Ma was getting really mad because I was picking a fight with Shula and barking and growling and slamming into things - she didn't want me to wake up Myles. She stood between me and Shula and told me that was enough, so I did stop, but when I jumped off the couch the last time, I landed funny on my foot. Now I won't put any weight on my bad leg. OOPS. So, Ma told me to go lay down and rest, which I am. After that, I will be be as good as new!
Well, maybe not a bigowie, but it looks kinda yucky! Tonight Ma saw me sitting by the back door, licking my paw a LOT, which is unusual. When I lifted my head up, she could see something bright red on my paw and ran to me. I have a very big, red bump between my first and second toes!! Ma and Dad figure I must have gotten bit by something, because I didn't go for a walk or run today.
I'm not limping or anything, and I did let Ma look at it a LITTLE bit since it doesn't hurt too much. But we are wondering what to do for it. There is no break in the skin or anything and I am walking on it. Do you guys think this warrants a vet visit? Anything Ma should try to put on there? Mostly she is worried that it is annoying me. Silly Ma! She worries way too much. BOL!
