Arrival Story: My husband and I had talked about getting a playmate for Shula, but had decided to wait for awhile. Then he showed up after work one day with a dog...I was quite upset, but Callie is truly a sweetheart!
Bio: Callie was born in July 2008 and her litter was dropped off at a shelter. They were all adopted out, but the family that had her had to move to an apartment that didn't allow dogs. They surrendered her back to the shelter; my husband said she was the only one not barking and running around when he went to look. She is SO sweet and is trained and so quiet. About a week after we brought her home, we noticed she walked with a limp - we thought maybe Shula roughed her up too much. The vet said it looks like an old break that hadn't been set right, but that it wouldn't be worth re-breaking to fix. It doesn't slow her down any! She enjoys walking, chewing on bones, playing in water, and following Shula around!

Well, Ma wanted to celebrate the beginning of a great month - Adopt A Dog, her birthday, Halloween, fall weather, all that good stuff! We can't have any more fur-siblings in our house, but she wanted to do something nice for the furs who don't have furever homes yet.
So today, before her first birthing class, she stopped by the humane society where me, Callie, and Muffin came from, and dropped off a big bag of cat food, some blankets she made, Milk Bones, cat treats, raw hide bones, and some doggie and kitty toys. The lady there was SO HAPPY she wasn't sure what to say! Ma also took a membership form, cuz she had bought a membership for her sister-in-law last year, but never got one fur herself!
She said there was a GSD/Husky mix there that she would have LOVED to have, but was able to walk away! She said maybe the next doggie, cuz her hands are FULL with ME! BOL!
I keep furgetting to write about this! On Sunday, Ma and Dad and Shula and I were headed back from a long afternoon of running and sniffing at the shack! We were all pretty tired. Dad decided he wanted some Dairy Queen, so we went through the drive thru. When we got to where you pick up the food, Shula saw the guy hanging out the window and started barking and barking. Ma and Dad were getting REAL mad.
BUT THEN!
The guy asked if the "enthusiastic customers" would like some ice cream!! OMD! YESYESYES! So, he gave Ma a little dish of vanilla soft serve, and she sat in the back seat and held it through the dog barrier so we could lick it all up! It was soooo good!
