special homemade recipe for treats for desired behaviors rewards
She likes going up on the hill by our apartment complex to play and run.
Madeleine loves to catch things (toys), but she really doesn't do "tricks" per say.
I am a member of the Psyciatic Service Dog Society. Several years ago I was without a service dog and sent a short email to Joan Esnayra, PhD, Founder and President of the PSDS (Psychiatric Service Dog Society/www.psychdog.org) I told her in the email that I needed help because I didn't have a service dog at that time. Then I sort of forgot about it for some time. Several months later on a Sunday morning at church I decided to go to a prayer team and ask that the Lord would provide my need regarding this. The time this prayer was prayed was about 10:30 am. I am one who happens to believe two basic things about prayer. One is that prayer is a powerful way to communicate with God (as long as we are quiet and give Him opportunity to respond) and secondly that prayer changes things. After church that same Sunday I went out to eat with a few friends and then went Christmas shopping with one of them. We went shopping until around 5:30 pm and afterward my friend decided to come to my apartment for a while. Not more than 30 minutes after we had gotten to my apartment a phone call came in to my home phone number and it was a young woman from Florida asking for me. I said it was me. She then proceeded to tell me that she was a dog trainer in Panama City, FL and that she had received a call from Joan Esnayra telling about how I needed a PSD (Psychiatric Service Dog.) The young woman said she had one in training and that it would be ready soon if I would like her. I kindly thanked her and reluctantly told her that at that time I didn't have the funds to get a professionally trained service dog. The young woman on the other end of the phone said that I misunderstood her. What she meant was that her organization, Wag! Service Dogs, was giving her to me. I could hardly believe it! God answered THAT prayer in less than 10 hours! I was informed that all I would have to pay for was my airfare there and back, all food used and vet service fees incurred while Madeleine was in training, and $10 a day for 10-14 days to do team training with Maddy. I did have the money to do that so basically all it cost me for a more than an $18,000 service dog was around $800. NO ONE, BUT NO ONE, CAN EVER TELL ME THAT GOD DOESN'T HEAR AND ANSWER PRAYER! It's just that sometimes the answer isn't "yes," but "no" or "wait." I thank the Lord for that day when He said, "yes" and I didn't have to wait. I went to Panama City, FL, trained with Maddy, and flew home with her two weeks later on the plane with her right there with me. I choose to believe that God cannot be limited to sending angels in certain forms to minister to people. He can send them in the form of dogs and I firmly believe that this is what He has done for me.
