Food, hands down. He also likes sleeping under the covers (err.. demands) ruling as king in a house full of "pit bulls", food, walks, food and this Chinese Crested Loves to swim!
hates the rain, hates getting his nails trimmed (and unlike the pitties, he's not afraid to bring his teeth into the matter -he gets a nose warmer for those). Not into rambunctions or rough children.
likes to play with cow hooves
anything even remotely edible
anywhere really but likes a stroll of the neighborhood
bark, growl, walking on his hind legs, circles, "how do you get it", head on paws, knows tons of tricks
I was doing all breed/mixed breed rescue. I got a call about a Chinese Crested going to be euthanized in a shelter in Stanislaus County (apparently my name got on a crested rescue list). When he first got into the shelter, they almost put him to sleep because they thought he had mange but someone recognized his breed. Still no one wanted him. I couldn't get there that day so they agreed to put off his euthanasia for one day if I promised to take him no matter what when I got there. I was half expecting to find a mange ridden half shepherd size dog but there he was a lovely little hairless crested. I found a home and placed him in no time. He then came down with the worst case of kennel cough I have ever seen. His adoptive home freaked and I took him back and straight to the emergency vet. After that ordeal he just wormed his way in and quickly became and to this day remains the alpha dog of the house.
Chewy is definitely a character. Super smart and sneaky, he has a Beagle's love of food. Not your typical crested, Chewy is an honorary APBT and he does everything the big dogs do. He loves to swim and hike and is outgoing and friendly with people. He likes to play with other dogs but large male dogs often bring out the Napoleon in him. Chewy knows all kinds of tricks and commands and was truly meant to be a star! He's had some health problems and now has epilepsy, cushings disease and the possiblity of a brain tumor but our little man is still holding strong. Luckily his seizures are controlled by medications and he lives a happy normal life. We adore Chewy in every way. We'd love another Crested but we're sure Chewy is just one in a million.
