Rainy Days & Vet Visit

I must say I've had an interesting weekend. On Friday the humans took the Noisey One and me to the vet. We are both displaying mild conjunctivitis and must have drops administered twice a day. I've never had eye drops before and I don't care for them at all. The female insists that I take them and no matter how much I fight she always prevails. She tells me it will only last for a couple of days, but it has already been a couple of days too many.

On a less frustrating note (though frustrating none the less), it has rained all weekend! Do you know what that means? It means no Dog Park. I have to wait until Tuesday because the TV says the rain will cease by then. I hope they're right this time.

Before I conclude, I must remark upon the change in my daily victuals. The humans have started mixing something extra in my food. At first I was cautious but I soon discovered it was some wet dog food that makes the dry kibble mighty tasty. This stems from the female's observance of my distaste for dry kibble. What can I say? I have a delicate palate and demand the best there is. It's about time they noticed!

Well, my friends, I feel I have exhausted the patience of my typist. I hope everyone is in good spirits and that your humans toss you a couple of treats before bedtime!

Until next time, I'll be dodging the eye dropper...

P.S. The female would like to mention that there are some new pictures of me here on our Shiba Mind Tricks Blog

Springtime

I can tell spring is approaching by the creatures that have started appearing around my yard. Yesterday afternoon, the female became irate when a lizard bolted across her feet (she does not fancy lizards. or frogs. or spiders.) Sensing my lady was in distress, I swiftly gave pursuit and was closing in when he dashed beneath the fence. He would have made a lovely snack. This morning, a cardinal landed in the yard, however I was inside having breakfast so I watched from inside while it pecked around my yard before flitting away.

I enjoy having creatures to chase about the yard, but moreover I enjoy the cold crispness of winter when I can spend most of the day outdoors and not be uncomfortable (I sport my double coat handsomely but it can be unbearable in the summer months). It may be possible to convince the humans to take me swimming during the warmer months.

Until next time, I'll be patrolling for lizards...

The Dog Park

Sometimes things around here can be quite mundane. I much prefer the weekends when the humans chauffeur me around town and to the dog park. Ah, the dog park. My very favorite place; so many squirrels to chase, so many trees to mark, and so many tennis balls to run after. I don't mind other dogs being there, especially when we have a good dash around the park.

It's more fun to play with the humans though. But they don't seem to understand how to play 'fetch' with me. The first part (throwing the ball) they get right. They wait while I run after it. But then they expect me to bring it back! That ladies and gentlemen, simply will not do. I am much too dignified to be picking up toys that were once in another dog's mouth! I find it is much more fun to chase things and only my humans seem to apprehend that (I have trained them well).

If you see me at the park, feel free to throw me tennis balls and Frisbees. Bringing them back, however, is out of the question.

Until next time, I shall anticipate the weekend...
