 Quick Bio:
Likes: Pupperoni treats and cuddling! Cheese bits and chasing the cat. Running and jumping.

Pet-Peeves: That our cat won't play with her and the dogs at the park are too big.

Favorite Toy: Tug toys--a long, springy duck and a long dachshund, a long, flat fox(a bit of irony, there) and her chew toys.

Favorite Food: Any kind of wet food, and lamb treats, loves cheese (a new discovery) and hot dog treats.

Favorite Walk: At first she was afraid to walk very far from the house, but now she loves to walk all over the neighborhood.

Best Tricks: Tesseracting--she moves faster than the speed of light, and singing. She also wraps her arms around you and tucks her head into you and falls asleep like that, like a toddler.

Arrival Story: We adopted Holly from a very nice local family who had adopted her a year ago from an Asian Rescue group in SF (AHAN). They loved Holly (then called "Yollie") but with their children grown up and one leaving for college, they felt they did not have time to raise a rambunctious puppy. I found Holly on Petfinder.com, and she seemed like the perfect dog for us. We had recently lost our beloved Aussie-shepherd Dachshund mix named Sadie, and we were looking for a smallish, sweet-tempered female rescue dog.
Holly really caught my attention with her beautiful brown eyes and foxlike face.

Bio: Holly was born in the mountainous region of Taiwan, where she and her litter mates were roaming around in the wild, as pups, we think. They were rescued by AHAN and brought to the United States. We think Holly is part Shiba Inu, and possibly part terrier of some kind, not quite sure. She is 30 lbs, probably her full size, and full of affection and playfulness.

Holly is growing and changing.: We've had Holly now for about 3 months, and she is rapidly becoming much more social with strangers and much braver and more playful at the dog park. She's gone from tense, 10 minute walks (constantly checking to see where the house is) to walking for an hour into totally new territory. She no longer barks or growls at strangers (except at night, occasionally) and she has learned to stop herself in mid-chase with the cat.
She does tend to guard us a bit at the dog park unless we get up and move around, but this is a characteric of a Shiba. Overall, she is a fabulous girl and she is blossoming into sweet-tempered, loyal and loving companion.
