Arrival Story:
Our Shetland Sheepdog Wickey was the most spunky, loyal, intelligent dog we'd ever had. We knew we couldn't do without another one of these awesome little dogs to warm our hearts, so we headed to a Sheltie breeder in some obscure Illinois town who showed Shelties and bred them as well. There, my mother's heart was captured by a jet-black Sheltie...while I found myself entranced by the gorgeous, swirling colors of a certain bi-blue Sheltie. But, we had gone to there to get a dog for my mom, so although I left disappointed at the delightful blue's absence, I was still genuinely excited about getting another dog.
(But...) When we arrived at the breeder to pick up "Mango" (as we had named her, after our favorite fruity delicacy), my mother pulled out not one, but TWO dog tags, one of them with the name "Blizzard" printed on it, and seeing the picture of her, you will no doubt agree that is the most befitting name. And so Blizzard has been with us for about five years now (I think...I really try not to count), wooing us with her mellow but adoring personality.

Today, Dogster is celebrating the Sheltie!! They are the most awesome dog my family has ever owned...fun, intelligent, loving, awesome with kids. None of our Shelties has ever bitten anyone, not once. I love my Blizzie to death. She is so loyal and affectionate. Mango isn't the smartest bulb in the bunch, but incredibly loving. And Gracie has brought the FUN back into our lives...I love them all so much and I'm a dude who sounds really sappy right now but I mean it...they are, quite simply, the best.
